I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt that she just used a poor taste in words. The Taliban were acting a little weird around a woman with her face exposed. Pissed me off when I first heard it, but looking more into it seems she’s one of the few journalists left doing their actual jobs.

Just saw Brett Baier interviewing John Kirby from the Pentagon. Baier was pushing him on why the Brits are running missions to get their people but we aren't. Kirby said our people weren't having issues getting to the airport.
The odds that we would watch other countries do this and leave our own stranded seem exceedingly rare. It would have to come straight from Biden himself and I dont doubt that he would make that call. But I think we've got to be doing it and not advertising it. Maybe we dont want the fighters from the South to speed up their trip to Kabul? You cant tell me there are no Tier 1 and 2 operators in Kabul right now. No way the 82nd and 10th Mtn are the only guys there

You evacuated less than 300 of them yesterday and if we keep up that pace we won’t get a quarter of them out of there.

Because the people responsible for this clusterfrick and their water carriers told you so?
You people need to pull your head out of the sand and realize you were completely had. You are up lies for 4 years and this is what the result is.
We went from powerful and prosperous to weak, embarrassed and downright shameful because the political elite were afraid of losing their power. So afraid they damned us all.

There were reports out of the UK that US Special Forces along with two interpreters are on the scene helping the Brits with their evacuations as they went door-to-door. FWIW.

I hope and pray that you are correct.

Good call. I wasn't explicit. I failed to mention she was in Egypt for work (she lived in US).

I could be wrong, but I thought the reports made it seem like those were American contractors

I’m catching up on the thread from earlier today. But I couldn’t help but

I really get why vets drink now. Monday night I wanted nothing more than to drink a bottle of Maker’s and pass out.
But I’ve got some support systems. So I didn’t. I just had a beer and a cigar.

The report I saw said "American operators" which left it a little vague but I read that as contractors as well.

U.S. officials to Reuters have said that they are not ruling out doing airstrikes against large equipment captured by the Taliban.
IMHO the Taliban has already informed the USA that if any of these ammo or equipment storage sites are damaged by the USA that the Taliban will begin mortar-bombing the Kabul airport runways and hangar facilities immediately
Your move, USA.

We wouldn’t bomb anything until after we left. Of course, if you leave US citizens behind, bombing anything will just expedite their public execution. I wouldn’t put it past Senile Joe to do it trying to reestablish himself as tough after we finally get out.

Internal State Department Cable Warned of Kabul Collapse
July memo shows that administration officials were cautioned about Taliban’s quick advance
WSJ
An internal State Department memo last month warned top agency officials of the potential collapse of Kabul soon after the U.S.’s Aug. 31 troop withdrawal deadline in Afghanistan, according to a U.S. official and a person familiar with the document.
The classified cable represents the clearest evidence yet that the administration had been warned by its own officials on the ground that the Taliban’s advance was imminent and Afghanistan’s military may be unable to stop it.
The cable, sent via the State Department’s confidential dissent channel, warned of rapid territorial gains by the Taliban and the subsequent collapse of Afghan security forces, and offered recommendations on ways to mitigate the crisis and speed up an evacuation, the two people said.
The cable, dated July 13, also called for the State Department to use tougher language in describing the atrocities being committed by the Taliban, one of the people said.

Got into with a Leftist last week and said that Biden made everything better, and when I asked him to name one he said “well… everything.” “No, too vague. What specifically has gotten better under Biden?” *crickets*
I’d love to run into him this week, since we actually ended the conversation in a friendly and good way.

Honestly, we need to start mentally preparing ourselves over what we’re going to be seeing over the next few weeks, months, and possibly years. Like I would not be surprised if we found one of them as a sex slave years down the road in Dubai or Qatar. This could go down like the Rape of Nanking, except it lasting for a month it lasts a year. This is going to make 9/11 look pleasant, since at least that one was quick.

I was a Paratrooper and I can tell you the Paratroopers at that airport being told to stand down, knowing Americans are beyond the wall, are going to carry this around for the rest of their lives. Watching the British Paras going out and back getting British citizens only makes it worse.
This is going to destroy their spirit and is never going away for them.

This is probably true. They definitely have the upper hand.
