That's not gunfire. It's actually just the sound of the Taliban giving women more rights and privileges than they had before. It's easy to get those 2 sounds confused so no worries.

More clues that they have no fricking clue how many American citizens are in Kabul or the country:

The State Department has now set up a hotline at 1-888-407-4747(domestic calls) and 1-202-501-4444 (overseas calls), as well as a Repatriation Assistance Request form online for any U.S. Citizens seeking emergency flights out of Kabul. DO NOT CALL OR GO TO THE US EMBASSY IN KABUL LINK

It can't be done our State Department says......

The Telegraph

Paras evacuate first 200 Britons from Afghanistan

Soldiers tell Telegraph vulnerable civilians were rescued in operation that began on Saturday night and was led by 16 Air Assault Brigade

British paratroopers have completed their first evacuation of around 200 British nationals from Afghanistan, with soldiers speaking of the "relief" felt by the passengers.

Soldiers on the ground in Kabul, the Afghan capital, told The Telegraph they had rescued the civilians in an operation that started on Saturday night and was led by 16 Air Assault Brigade.

The passengers, a combination of expats, dual nationals and people working with NGOs and contractors, had been instructed by the Foreign Office to report to a secure location, where they were picked up by soldiers.

Among them were blind, pregnant and disabled people.

By Monday morning, they had been transported to a military aircraft, facilitated by the RAF, which was travelling to the UK via another location in the Middle East.

Defence sources said the operation showed that "the lads are working hard".

Within less than two hours of touching down at Kabul Hamid Karzai International Airport on Saturday night, the paratroopers had deployed on to the streets of the capital.

It is "impossible" they tell us.

Thing is the Americans were busy trying to secure the airport. Brits had no responsibility.

Another on for ol' Pete, wherever he is tonight:

Houston Chronicle

quote:

Houston-area Afghan interpreter mourns sister slain in Afghanistan

quote:

“They knocked (on) the door of my sister,” the interpreter said. When his sister answered the door they asked for one of her brothers. “(My sister said), ‘We don’t know.’ Because of that they shoot her straight away,” the interpreter said.

The interpreter’s service with the U.S. government has been verified.

“She’s trying to escape and they shoot her from the back,” he said. “They shoot a lot. When she fell down, they shoot more. On the walls, everywhere.”

The interpreter’s four nephews and nieces were present; two of them were injured during the incident. A photo on his cellphone shows a bullet wound on a teenage boy.

He said he passed out when he heard the news late Sunday and was taken to the hospital due to high blood pressure.

Yea, I'm sure we couldn't ask our allies to help out securing the airport so we could go do the same or we could ask for more resources.

A friend at Dulles has been working on getting people home. Sleeping on his office couch every night. It’s a clusterfrick.

The thing is, you don't have to "attack" him. Just state the reality of what he has done, or not done. That will stand on its its own.
