I suppose some rescue ops could happen in parts of Kabul outside of the airport. However, the folks in other parts of the country? They are probably not getting rescued.

Kandahar has a huge amount of locals who worked for the USA.

If true the Taliban is going to start taking prisoners to ransom

I saw where 486th Flight Test Squadron has one of their planes headed toward Europe. Probably late to the party, but it occurred to me how the absence of Bagram is going to drastically change how "overtly" we're able to move JSOC, etc. pieces around in the region. Whole new world.

We don’t know where a lot of these people are and Kabul is a city of 6 million people. For reference New York is 8 million. Asian cities are on average much larger than Western cities.

You’re acting like that’s a minor detail here. No, that’s why they’re not getting back. The Press Secretary of the Pentagon this morning all but said that he’d only give Americans protections once they got to the airport, and this city is being ruled by the biggest woman and child abusers in the world. How is a family of 4 going to make it to the airport unseen when they live across the city from it? This is a major, major problem.

Yeah, they can’t, and that’s what’s going to get people killed. Again, yesterday we only evacuated 165 Americans, they’re 10,000 of them left, and they’ve got until August 31st. This is a major issue.
