The guy released from GTMO under Obama was in one of the pictures at the presidential palace speaking about his time at GTMO. The leader is a different dude who was released under Trump.
Bickering/scoring gotchas over who released who is a lose lose distraction at this point. We detained a lot of bad guys and released a lot of bad guys in order to obtain something in return.

It is still kind of undecided who will be the official leader once everything shakes out. There are three or four guys who could, ultimately, become the leader, including the guy who is acting leader now.

Pay attention to what high ranking Pentagon officials and generals are saying. Earlier today, one made a comment about troops "on the ground in Kabul". Prior to that, they had all been careful to say, "troops are going to protect the airport". That slight difference in phrasing could prove significant.

I expected their were fighters in the area
There is a USAF Stratofortess tanker loitering South of Kabul.
I guess they are keeping air support in the area in case the Taliban start to get to close to the airport.
There was a USAF reconnaissance and signals intelligence plane flying around Kabul and the surrounding mountains all afternoon. May have located a build up of Taliban offensive force in the area on surveillance film.
Have them a fly by to let them know the US has air support in the area. .

It’s a desperation move to blame trump or anything else other than that frick up biden. The only people in the world defending this crap are American leftists. It was the left that pushed for the closure of gitmo anyway
