Twitter has anchored the #afghanistan trend. Was hovering around 8 or 9 and poof it’s gone.

We need to also remember that it isn't just our people being evacuated:

JUST IN: The first evacuation operations of German citizens from Kabul have started early Monday, German news agency DPA says.

Here's the latest:

Doing all of this at a single runway airport....

Some, but think more Halliburton and other support companies for the troops over there.

I’m trying to figure why all of these US citizens are there? Outside of military and embassy, what possible reason would there be for an American to be in Afghanistan?

Teachers, aid workers, contractors embedded in the Afghan civilian infrastructure. My BIL spent a year operating a tethered surveillance balloon that monitored the border crossing between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. He said it was very peaceful up that way. No trouble at all.

But I am focused on "bulk" lift. I am fairly certain they are there to keep the lift in the air. Only filling up with passengers (possibly) after they have gassed everyone else up.
Understand, but the self-loading cargo is pretty light.

You have to admit, that is a very weak lift plan.
Yeah, that's why I don't understand the "Looks like a successful Kabul evacuation!" line. WIth 10k civilians and 6k troops that's not a succesful evac.

I would ignore that part of the tweet. Use it as more of info for US planes that have successfully left the airport.

Too bad we can't trade. We have plenty of face-cover requiring, statue destroying, authoritarian government craving people over here.

Yup.

What ally would ever trust the US again after this?

The area they’re in could still be away from the actual runway and area where the US is setup.

Appears that way

I assumed so. Something like that seems pretty useful in a lot of scenarios.

You just know some are rolling towards the Kabul Airport as we speak.

I wonder if they left any tanks?

Not a single woman or child in that video. This is about to get extremely dark.

Nothing but military age males.

I sure hope the Taliban isn't smart enough to pull that off.

Although it is extremely suspicious that there are no females, children, or old people.

Could you imagine if US, Britain, and Germany fly several thousand jihadis to their countries only to have them open up snack bars for a 9/11 surprise party?
