Ehh, it’s probably more like sealing off the boiler rooms. It may not stop the thing from going down, but it can give folks a little extra time to make it out alive.

rural housing assistance, now at the Department of Agriculture, would shift to the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

I don’t like that. I trust USDA more than HUD.

But I do see the sense in it from a streamlining perspective. I’m a little worried combining departments and the consolidation of power will later be abused in the future.

This is not going to happen, IMHO. The GOP and the Dems will join forces to stop Trump from realizing his plans WRT:

1) the Wall -- there won't be a Wall, the courts will stop it if necessary

2) shrinking FedGov -- Trump is the only person in Wash DC that wants to do that. Trump is alone. Trump has no allies.

3) Stopping the "Open Borders Movement" -- again, Trump is alone here -- the GOP is providing no support now on this issue and certainly won't support Trump after the mid-term elections.

These are all just my opinions, of course. I'd like to say that I'm wrong but -- is the Wall up yet? No.

IMHO, Trump really wants to do these things and Trump wants to MAGA. The problem is that the time for these things have passed and there is a New Age on the Horizon -- an Age without Nation-States -- and both major US political parties are working towards that end.
