Guess you haven't seen the presentation by the Admiral in charge of the ME who said they've had a plan for the Strait of Hormuz for 30 years. It wasn't overlooked. Few things in any war go as planned. Read D-Day by Steven Ambrose. Maybe 50% of the plan for D-Day went as planned and that was planned over 2+ years. Turn off the View and change your tampon.

"The USA doesn't need the strait either.....China and rest of the area does!"
While I agree to a certain extent, since we produce enough for our own needs, the fact that the increasing needs of the remainder of the world, in this economy, drives the oil prices much higher for our domestic product. This is reflected in our own high gas prices. Since our gas / oil industry is not nationalized the world market pricing will always be reflected at our own pumps, and unfortunately that cost will be passed on to US consumers in the form of higher prices on goods and groceries.

No such thing as a fool proof plan in large scale military confrontations. Enemy gets a vote whether you like it or not.

Yep. You better go tell the guy from Pakistan that just admitted to it that he was wrong then. Look it up. Guy either just cut a plea deal or was put on trial and admitted it. Bottom line is he did admit to trying to hire people to kill Trump and others. It was in the news very recently.

there wasnt a fool proof plan in place to secure HormuzStrait
You just had Macron the mental midget going from "we'll NEVER put French naval resources to this task," to "France is all in on protecting the Hormuz Straight."
Here is the gambit .... WE DON'T NEED THE HORMUZ STRAIGHT OPEN!!!

Arrogance, meet Law of Unintended Consequences.

The US doesn't depend on that oil going thru the Hormuz straight..... That's Asia and Europe...
Short sighted. Still affects global commodity pricing whether we use it or not. If the strait remains closed for a long enough time there will be massive global economic shocks that we simply can't be insulated from.
There is no reason to panic but if you can't conceive of reasons why this could go sideways for the entire world if not resolved in short order then you might need to take a closer look at things.

Pakistani man convicted of plotting to kill Trump over death of Iranian commander
Asif Merchant accused of trying to recruit people in 2024 plan to target Trump, Biden and other politicians in retaliation for killing of Qassem Suleimani
Reuters
Fri 6 Mar 2026 23.30 EST
A Pakistani man has been convicted of planning to kill Donald Trump and other prominent US politicians two years ago at the behest of Iran.
Asif Merchant was accused of trying to recruit people in the US in a plan targeting Trump and others in retaliation for the killing of Iranian military commander Qassem Suleimani in 2020, during Trump’s first term as president.
Targets in the 2024 plot, federal prosecutors said, also included the then president Joe Biden and Nikki Haley, the former ambassador to the UN who ran against Trump that year for the Republican presidential nomination.
---
Merchant admitted to joining the plot orchestrated by Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) but testified he did so unwillingly in order to protect his family in Tehran.
Merchant said he was never ordered to kill a specific person but that his Iranian handler named three people in the course of conversations in the Iranian capital.
---
The IRGC has a central role in Iran, with a combination of military and economic power and an intelligence network. Tehran has denied accusations that it targeted Trump or other US officials.

What's the evidence there was "no plan"?
Leftist talking point of the week right after the bombing started.
A few days ago I spoke with a friend who has a son that went to the USAF Academy and is currently serving as an F16 pilot.
We spoke about the Iran situation and according to his son, both General Caine and Admiral Cooper are extremely competent commanders.
The bottom line is that Trump has the best team possible in place to achieve a successful outcome.
