Chemical solutions to what are essentially problems of negative, subjective perceptual scenarios only addresses the SYMPTOMS. And like with any chemical/med...with negative side effects.

Not begrudging anybody their moral right to choose; just the facts. Nothing like a cool one at the end of a hard fought day. For intelligent and strong-willed individuals psychotic side affects will likely be minimalized...but for the weak (who are first to opt for chems)...they'll go down fast and hard, burdening the rest of productive and functional Society.

but chronic alcoholism probably has just as bad if not worse symptoms over the long term.

No doubt - if you restrict the comparison to alcohol vs marijuana.

But hard alcohol is the end of the line for that type of mind-alteration, while marijuana is the initial step in the other strain of mind alteration.

weed to beer would be a more accurate comparison - not many people damage their health strictly from beer - the real damage comes when they graduate to hard stuff.

The real damage from marijuana comes when they graduate to the harder drugs.

And yes I know - not every pothead graduates to herion - but I would bet everything I had that over 90% of all heroin addicts started with marijauana, just like most drunkards started with beer.

Spoken like a true maleducated know-it-all. Someday, as you recover from your stupor and see the world you have helped create crumbling around you, your dim-witted mind will struggle trying to remember the wise people you so pompously denigrated because they tried to interfere with your self-deluded sense of superiority.

I pity you.

I will not live to see the shite-hole you are creating. But I can envision the hell you are making.

I feel sorry for my great grandsons who will have to help dig themselves out of the shite you are building for them.

You are pathetically ill equipped to cope.

Marijuana consumption by Colorado high school students has dipped slightly since the state first permitted recreational cannabis use by adults, a new survey showed on Monday, contrary to concerns that legalization would increase pot use by teens

quote:

According to the department, 21.2 percent of Colorado high school students surveyed in 2015 had used marijuana during the preceding 30 days, down from 22 percent in 2011, the year before voters statewide approved recreational cannabis use by adults 21 and older. The first state-licensed retail outlets for legalized pot actually opened in 2014.

Nationwide, the rate of pot use by teens is slightly higher at 21.7 percent, the study found.

100% likely more heroin users tried booze before marijuana, kinda shitting all over your distorted premise.

yes

alcohol is the real gateway drug, due to it's almost universally accepted social standing

I'd agree with most of that... But you have to ask, how many beer drinkers decided to start smoking after they started drinking?

Marijuana's illegality is the real "gateway drug." If you did not have to purchase it on the black market it would not put you in contact with harder drugs. It really is kinda sad how this old man and others like him have been brainwashed by anti-marijuana propaganda and do not even realize it. It is pretty pathetic.

So. People now just smoke way less. Wouldn't you say that is a positive? Less stress on the lungs. I'm still waiting on those links by the way.

This can be adjusted, similar to ABV.

Right, because in the last 30-40 years we started selectively breeding, like they haven't been doing for thousands of years... we found some where extremely high potency was double recessive . Obviously I'm mocking your stupidity, some of neville's stock from the late 70's and 80's is still used today for breeding.

Since there are literally 1000s of MJ related deaths, don't you think we should allow more research about it.

Maybe it triggers markers within some people and those people do bad things. Like shoot up a school?

Before we legalize it, maybe we need to know.

We do not know the addiction rate of the higher thc because we need studies done, but we do know that standard levels, if you can call it that, has an addiction rate of about 15%

If Hartung is correct, the LD50 for humans is 30 mg/kg 2 grams of pure THC would kill a 150 pound man 50% of the time.

That =s .35 ounces of high grade MJ with 20% THC. Wax, dab, hash oils readily available in streets can contain 80% THC. That means 1/10th an ounce contains a lethal half dose.

Where did you find this information? Can you cite it? That seems awfully low.

I actually couldn't find much data on THC use in humans. I found this from the Oregon board of pharmacy website https://www.oregon.gov/pharmacy/Imports/Marijuana/StaffReview/ReschedulingCannabis-NOTES_3-10.pdf

quote:

The non-fatal consumption of 3000 mg/kg A THC by the dog and monkey
would be comparable to a 154-pound human eating approximately 46 pounds
(21 kilograms) of 1%-marihuana or 10 pounds of 5% hashish at one time. In
addition,
92 mg/kg THC intravenously produced no fatalities in monkeys.
These doses would be comparable to a 154-pound human smoking at one time
almost three pounds (1.28 kg) of 1%-marihuana or 250,000 times the usual
smoked dose and over a million times the minimal effective dose assuming
50% destruction of the THC by smoking

*emphasis mine

so at 20% THC you'd have to consume 2.5 pounds of wax which is a god bit.
