After reading through the article it seems they're arguing it develops until at least 25, possibly into the 30's. I smell a new ad campaign brewing.

Dude, come on. The average age is 25, some take longer, some quicker. The prefrontal cortex is what isn't fully developed. This isn't some plot to keep you from smoking pot in the basement. Toke away, my friend. Just know, that if you're a teenager, it's making you dumber.

That's changing with current studies. The higher THC rates are an issue it seems..

Second, name me the study that shows teens having to have prescribed meds to deal with the effects that this study shows?

The majority of people not so well equipped at coping with the dangers of drug usage are not sitting in their comfortable homes arguing on an internet message board - they are either laying in an emergency room waiting to be pronounced dead or they are breaking into someone's home trying to steal enough for their next fix or shooting up a neighborhood to eliminate competition - etc etc.

We are talking about marijuana you freaking fossil. Do you think people are breaking into homes to get money for marijuana?

I am paying attention to the stats being presented about marijuana usage going down in Colorado after legalization. That is counter-intuitive to me, but I will not reject it because I have no data to refute it with. I will always change opinions based on new data. I am not convinced by posts on a message board. I will investigate that myself as I have time to do so.

I provided a link. Are you questioning its legitimacy?

So. People now just smoke way less.

except they don't. When a drug goes from 1% to 80% that's a new issue.

Couple things...
1)I don't smoke.
2)Not a teenager.
3)If we are going to say that young adults (18-20) arent fully developed mentally then we need to make 25 the real age of adulthood for everything. No voting, military service, driving, criminal liability, drinking, and age of majority.
4)My stance for people smoking MJ has more to do with the current WOD racket that funds most police departments.

Regarding item 3): To do otherwise would be to punish people who lack the necessary cognitive skills to make fully responsible decisions.

so at 20% THC you'd have to consume 2.5 pounds of wax which is a god bit.

Do you math at 80%

Yes they do. In the seventies people would smoke several joints in a session. Most people I know now just take a few hits off a pipe. With really good pot I usually only take one hit. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Well, initially it was 18, because that's what scientists used to think. Thus the reason the laws were crafted as such. As technology advanced, they got more precise.

I'm not advocating for any increase. I'm relaying facts. Not everything is a conspiracy.

Do you realize how stupid you are? Here, let me help.

First, I am well aware of my shortcomings - and I try to minimize the dangers that come from them. I never assume I know everything about anything.

Second, thank you for the input from your link.

I have not digested it all, but the excerpt you quoted doesn't really support your implied assertion. A reduction from 22% to 21.2% is not a significant data difference. That is noise level change. It will be interesting to see how this data trends in the future however, and I will be on the lookout for that - I am glad to see that someone is actually tracking it.

Again - thank you for the rational input.

But be aware that I have seen a lot of stupidity in my 79 years - and could be considered an expert in identifying it. I am seeing a lot of stupidity in this thread.

If you believe that 25 is the age of full adulthood physiologically, and the current drinking age is 21... Why not?

Further, is it a good idea for 18 year olds with underdeveloped brains to be handed machine guns, handling artillery, grenades, and driving tanks?

What about criminal liability? How can someone with an underdeveloped brain be considered an adult at 18?

I could go on and on- you get the idea.

Yes you did.... and I showed you the data from that link. Now what?

From your link:

quote:

"Youth marijuana use can have lifelong implications. The risks, which include psychosis, suicide, drug addiction and lower IQs, have been reported based on research on much lower THC potencies than are typically sold on Colorado's commercial market,”

quote:

2015 survey by the federal Department of Health and Human Services showed that Colorado ranks first in the nation for marijuana use by youth between the ages of 12 and 17.

quote:

52% of teens view it as safe for regular use.

Really... Could you tell me what parameters you set? Bet you can't.

A Dr was in this thread and confirmed the data using the system.

Did the link I provided state that use has increased or decreased since legalization? It is a pretty simple question.

If you link show that 300 people died from marijuana poisoning in 2014 then why don't you cop and paste where it says that?

Your link shows, statically, no movement.

You might not understand what you are showing to everybody in this thread, but I do. You didn't run a search in Wonder. If you had, you would know the answer to your own question.
