FWIW, many politicians use the term Veteran to make the public think that they served in combat when they never left the USA. That is something most have no control over and honorable whether deployed or not.

I tried to tell people about voting for him over Steve Marshall. Moore's campaign ads was nothing but "I'm MAGA and will side with President Trump every time". He's a rubber stamp puppet and our electorate in this state is borderline retarded.

I work with a guy who was in a low density MOS from 1999-2018 and he only spent 7 months in a combat theater, and that was sitting on the FOB. There's even more ways to not deploy if you're a female.
The ARFORGEN horse blanket is easy to find. If you see a BCT on it, call your branch manager and transfer into that unit. Really the only thing stopping that is not being ABN or AASLT qualified if it is the 82d, 101st, 173d, or 2-11 deploying, and that's not really a deal breaker. Bergdhal wasn't ABN qualified but deployed with an ABN unit.
On the National Guard side of things, Tour of Duty had listings for deployments on them all the time if you didn't like sitting at the armory every month and the summer trip to Camp Blanding or wherever.
Soldiers that want to deploy find ways to get downrange. Soldiers who want to get out of deployments can almost always find ways to get out of deployments, or get "deployed" to Italy instead of Iraq or wherever.

I was in Huntsville and Birmingham last month and caught the ads before the primary. I couldn't agree more, and I remember the Moore ads just being "I love Trump".

Absolutely could not agree more. Marshall was by far the best choice, with a proven record as Alabama AG.
Never underestimate the level of stupid that Alabama voters can be.

Moore signs official correspondence — including a nationally publicized 2024 letter attacking Walz — as “Staff Sergeant — Army National Guard (Ret.).”
I don't pretend to be an arbiter of this stuff, especially the less blatant ones, but this seems like more than just gray area embellishment on the edges to me, no? Or would being discharged at E-6 pay keep it there (gray area)?

I stand corrected but I don't like the idea of using the term to insinuate would were in firefights against the enemy. Enlisting or receiving a commission is honorable enough.
FTR, dad who served from before WWII when they sank German subs and capture a German freighter before we were in it took offense to someone calling themselves a veteran without having been shot at.

An older former co-worker played basketball on the base team, when his commanding officer was transferred to Germany, he transferred Mike with him. Mike would have otherwise gone to Vietnam.
My ex father in law was on the Camp Lejeune football team so wasn't deployed to Korea. Per him, he was only one of two on their team in the starting lineup who were not All American or Little All American in college. The other player played in the NFL after being discharged.

Send this douche home by getting out and voting for Hudson!

soldiers who contracted for OCS, ROTC, or HS juniors (split option) who only attended and completed basic training were not issued DD 214s at that time.

And he'll take far more heat for this than Bojack Horseman did...

Give him the same treatment that was given to Tim Walz. No mercy.

Moore has publicly claimed he served for six years. His NGB Form 22, however, lists his total service as 2 years, 6 months, and 21 days, with an honorable discharge effective July 10, 1991. His DD Form 220 shows he entered active duty on March 15, 1989 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina for basic training, with that tour ending May 19, 1989. The documents allege Moore requested early separation to accept civilian employment.

How do these people think they will get away with this? They serve with a lot of people. These people know what they did and did not do.

I never could figure out why he was put in that position but that's probably what they all stand for.
