I believe in both. But I don't know why they are mutually exclusive. But yeah, Hawking received so many accolades that he started believing his own bullshite. And God bless him, he suffered far more than 99.9% of other people and so we felt tremendous compassion for him. He truly suffered in life. I know I wouldn't be able to persevere like he did. So in the end, after the differences about politics, what is left for me is RESPECT.

I bet he changed his mind when he died and found himself burning and being ripped to shreds for eternity by Satan’s demons

Well we have proof it can exist (us), and we know it’s possible anyways. And we also have the ability to at least estimate if it could/has happened elsewhere.

I don’t have to have to have proof of the score of the Alabama/Tennessee game to merely believe that Alabama had won. I would argue it’s certainty, but there is plenty of evidence to support the probability of my belief.

Do people still really think this exists? Some plane of existence filled with fire and demons with whips?

That it is fact that Intelligent Life exists; and it exist in exponentially-increasing forms as 'intelligence' is relative to quantity.

The real argument re the existence of God, becomes simply whether the Matter and Energy which manifest Intelligence - in our currently witnessed forms - suggests that Matter and Energy is indeed imbued with essential Intelligence.

What is the power (Universal Law) which binds Matter and Energy into forms which then manifest Intellect, and Self-Awareness as well. If this supposed Power - like the binding power of Gravity - binds Matter and Energy to produce Singular/Limited Entities...is it not highly probably that it also binds ALL Matter and Energy.

If such be the case, then the total/infinite Reservoir of Matter and Energy is both infinitely Intellectual, and infinitely Self-Aware. Sounds like an 'Entity' that causes a lot of speculative passion down here in Simple-Entity Land (I.e., particular Parallel Universe/"Many Mansions".

What a trip!

*He* likely got about a millisecond of "proof", and then dissipated into the Reservoir. Of course - given the Einstein Paradigm of Relativity - a millisecond can equal eternity, as that experience will ALWAYS EXIST, in it's proper timeframe.

And the Good Book says "a day is as a thousand years and a thousand years a day"...but that is from the perspective of the Big Guy with long hair.

Religion is about faith, which means no evidence is required to support your belief, so I don't understand why people fell the need to mix religion and science trying to prove or disprove the existence of a god, and I say this as a atheist for over 50 years.

This is dumb.
There is absolutely no proof of god.
It's a statistical impossibility we are the only intelligent life in the universe.

What's the statistical possibility that there is a God?

I say it is 50% which is pretty high odds that there is a God.

Evidence? What might that be?

There are thousands of years of written accounts, but I know a lot of people will dismiss those.

There is evidence that the moon is artificial, which means it would have had to have been created by some kind of intelligence.

What if there is no old man, creator god at the helm and instead the entire universe itself is conscious and alive? What if our own souls are simply drops in that ocean of consciousness, split apart at the moment to experience reality before eventually flowing back and returning that knowledge to the whole? Maybe all the world's religions are both right and wrong at the same time and the gnostic traditions were closer to the truth all along.

Well said. There are esoteric principles in Jesus' teachings. The foundations for religions are similar and mostly truthful, but they have been corrupted over the years by priests wanting to maintain a religious hierarchy and power over the populace.
