Myrtle Beach was sued by the NAACP over black bike week because all the hotels would shut down to avoid the destruction. Judge said it was racist to close down to keep people from destroying your hotel.

Had to overnight in Miami yesterday. From what I saw, this statement is correct.

You boys havent heard of freaknik???? started a few decades ago. I believe it was Virginia Beach first. Some historically black colleges decided to have their own version of spring break and of course 1000s of wanna bes showed up and once they all gathered the pack wolved theory took over. Breaking stuff right and left, blocking off streets, harassing anyone not the right skin tone. Va Beach passed a bunch of ordinances, you know like the fact they would actually enforce the law.

Atlanta then screamed, they dont want you come here.....and they did.....for a year....and Atlanta passed ordinances.

Anyone who has been to spring break knows this is not a bunch of college kids blowing off steam, this is a cultural statement where we are gonna wreck shat and if you touch me raaaaccciiissssmmmm.

Lol, I'd forgotten about freaknik. Everyone I knew who lived in Atlanta at that time would leave town for the week. It was insane, blocking highways, shootings, etc.

Everyone left except liberals, who assured me that this vibrant expression of culture is an essential part of the fabric of a healthy nation. Indeed, it's what makes us strong!

Freaknik started in Atlanta and was finally run off, they brought it back to a degree. It was also known as avoid downtown week. Side effect of shutting it down, these “spring breakers” just ended up going to PCB and other places, bringing lots of culture.

Glad PCB and Destin locked things down...

Several business owners played a big part in getting things back under control as well...

I got talked into going to freaknik in the early in the 90s. A bunch of my highschool buddies wanted me to experience it. I stayed an hour and spent 3-4 hours getting out. They killed it at 1 point and attempted to bring it back as freedom fest or some such. Now I barely drive through Atlanta and couldn’t imagine doing something like freaknik.

It is too bad that Freaknik in mid-90s Atlanta didn't have social media/World-Star. There were things there that had to be seen to be believed.

1960s era Impala hoopties with the hydraulics to make them dance (and pictures of the car airbrushed onto the hood or trunk). I remember seeing a low rider Chevy S-10 with a keg in the bed being pumped by a chick in a thong bikini, and the hose running into the cab for the driver to drink as he drove down Capitol Avenue past old Fulton County Stadium.

Spring Break? Back in my day that was for college students. Let's be real here, none of those pictured are in college.
