On top of that, “edible” likely means “human consumption.”

I bet a bunch of the ethanol corn likely gets used as hog feed if they aren’t selling it for ethanol.

Seems like we will have massive food shortages in six months.

That’s what they want. It will make us dependent on the government for food.

This is the same playbook they used with health insurance - to make it unviable without the government running it.

So, they do this to food and fuel then that paves the way for more “green” spending and defacto-nationalization of our food supply chains.

it seems like this is another way for them to push "green" energy without pushing it. whoops.. we destroyed all the gas engines. guess you have to buy EV now.

Exactly.

All the needed equipment (planters, sprayers, cultivators, combines, silos) work with both edible and nonedible seeds.

“Shortages” just mean you find alternatives.

And I don’t mean roots and insects.

Aerosmith anybody?

Their attitudes may taste like shite but goes real good with wine

Actually most of the corn used for ethanol is perfectly fine for use as animal feeds. By diverting it to fuel they increased your price for meat.

Adding an additional 5% will simply further raise the price of meat.

But many fringe Democrat groups like this because it prices meat out of lower income people’s diets.

Ethanol @ $2.18 a gallon. Gasoline @ $3.45 gallon

90% gas $3.10 + 10% ethanol .218 = $3.31 gallon

85% gas $2.93 + 15% ethanol .320 = $3.25 Gallon

.06 a gallon x 18 saves consumer over a dollar a fill up and Biden get to say prices are going down..

Until your fuel line melts or your car stalls because the ethanol got water in it.

Sugar cane ethanol does make sense though.

Yes...

...yes, it does.

I wouldn't waste it in my tank, however.

Only very few types of corn is edible. What is grown for ethanol is not edible corn.

What? No. Just no. My word how far removed from the land people are.

A big chunk of lesser grade corn is used for animal feed. That hits your grocery bill from the bottom to the top

Farmers own majority stock in each of the vast majority of ethanol plants. A plant needs 51% local farmer ownership to get subsidies from the states they are located in. It doesn't matter what name is on the sign, that name is the minority partner/operator. They are basically selling to themselves at $2 per bushel higher than export price.

15% will frick up engines not designed for it.

Which is most of them, honestly.

Mandatory ethanol has been a problem with boats for years and contributes to a lot of problems in the south where filling up the tank after a rain can stall your car out and cause all kinds of issues.

15% ethanol issue

According to my service manager at Toyota my 2003 Tundra will not run properly on 15%. It's set up to run on 12% but not 15.

Several purposes (all nefarious):

-"Save the environment"-Even though it takes way more energy to produce, transport, and refine the ethanol and the blended products. That doesn't even begin to consider all of the fossil fuel burning farming equipment.

-Subsidizes farmers to be dependent on big government and help drive the small farmer out of business.

-Wastes food resources on fuel. Yes only certain corn crops are edible for humans but if there wasn't a market for the ethanol specific varieties there would be more planting of the other varieties.

-It's absolutely terrible for small gas engines or anything that need to be stored for any length of time. There are BILLIONS upon BILLIONS of dollars spent on repairs and early equipment replacement due to ethanol damage.

Trump was dead wrong on this issue, but I would still vote for him. One of the very few things he got wrong.
