The knock on Lake was she’s a Trump acolyte, right? That’s a tougher argument to make in light of Trumps big win there.
Eddie Rispone was a big Trump guy. Trump carried La. three times; yet Rispone lost.
Just running on someone’s coattails gets you just so far. It’s obvious to me that Lake is not a strong candidate.

That’s become the prevailing groupthink, but I’ve yet to see a good explanation of why that’s the case, other than her not being moderate enough- but Trumps win there hurts that argument badly.
Gallego outperformed the D POTUS candidate on a federal ballot, as well as every other D House candidate. By far. What was so special about Gallego?
Seems, when it comes to Trump they hate that.
The very same voters apparently love it when it comes to Gallego
Throughout the nation this election, across multiple demographics said 2 things:
1. It is indeed about real issues
2. voter enthusiasm for the Dems was terrible.
There's one exception to that in the whole nation: Gallego. Not AZ, just Gallego. Illegal immigration did not matter and the Dem turnout (for him only, not president, not any reps) was off the charts.

Best answer I can come up with, w/o sounding too conspiratorial.

Good comparison but I’d argue Rispone wins if Trump were on that 2019 ballot. He fell to an incumbent by 40k

I know people that voted Trump but would not vote Kerri Lake. I know many here do not want to hear it but it is true. Many women in this state HATE Keri Lake.

Who do see being a good bet to flip one of these seats in the future? I thought Masters and McSally were solid, but they lost too

Of someone e could post why they don’t like her so much they’d rather have a Dem they hate.
Seems to be pretty simple assignment.
But flunked for years.
If I was voting, I'd vote for Lake. But that doesn't change any of what I said.
The one who has "flunked for years" is Lake. If anyone should understand the idea of "I don't like her because she's a loser," it should be Trump supporters.
So, why don't you tell me why I'd would be a good idea to continue running her and consistently lose every winnable statewide state in Arizona? Because she suddenly started doing a Lady Trump impression less than 8 years ago, and she was a newslady so she's somewhat telegenic? What else is there?

I saw AOC did a Q&A about this and a surprising amount of people commenting that they voted for Dems and Trump. FWIW I don’t understand it either as someone who did not vote for Trump.
If you’re truly asking I think it’s because you have a lot of people that either a) just voted for Trump bc of inflation or b) I think Hispanics culturally are more against women in leadership
Downvote away, but trying to have substantive conversation.

My theory is that many McCain true believers still hate Trump but Joe has and Kamala would F’up the country so bad they couldn’t vote for her. As a middle finger to Trump, make it hard to do too much. They love the country more than they hate Trump. Voting for Lake is a bridge too far.

It is possible. Larger turnout who knows?

She obtained 1. 5 million votes ?? ... while he eeked out another 30 to 50 thousand .... Consistently keeping her at bay. Unpopular doesn't down ballot this way... dude needs to be dropped face first into a TreeChipper... a truBlue Dem puppet... BigCity Biden sycophant .

For whatever reason, independents and independent-leaning Republicans do not like Lake.
All I would say is, she was up by many points in that election against the current governor here in AZ, then there were election day failures with machines, people turned away to go vote elsewhere, ballots put in the "Third" box that mistakenly got mixed with ballots that had already been counted...Lots of weird Shenanigens.
That election got ran by the same guy that's running this election in 2024 that completely hate's Kari Lake. Also the DEM governor that was running that election as Secretary of State at the time hates Kari as well..
It's definitely worth questioning the results and making sure everything is on the up and up...Gallego is a terrible candidate also, don't see how he's getting thousands of more votes than Kamala...

McCain still popular here, Gallego ads pressed hard on Lake's rebuking not only McCain, but anyone who supported McCain or even like him

Roughly half the difference between Gallegos and Lake is currently ballots that had a President filled out and no vote for Senate.
In other words, total Presidential (per NPR) is 3,164,240.
Total senate votes is 3,127,227.
37,013 voters who voted for President and didn’t vote in the Senate race. That’s a little higher than one would expect historically.

Get over it - sometimes it is about personality - and people hate Lake. I saw her ads when I was out there for a few weeks about 2 months ago - she makes people want to scratch their eyes out.
One thing this election taught us was that people CAN separate issues and candidates.
Sometimes it is as simple as that.

So how do the people of Arizona feel about the Governor there, Katie Hobbs?

quote:It's really this simple - AOC asked on social media for feedback from people in her district who voted for her and Trump on the same ticket, and got a ton of it. People didn't like Harris.
Makes sense to me.
Democrats voted for Trump
Add on top of it that Kari Lake is the R version of Beto O'Rourke and there you go.

You seem dumb as frick.
