On November 6, 2024 – the day after the 2024 presidential election – Professor James Bowley sent an email to the three students enrolled in his “Abortion and Religions” class canceling that day’s session to “mourn and process this racist fascist country[.]” On November 8, Interim Provost Stephanie Rolph informed Bowley that he had been placed on temporary administrative leave pending review, specifically for using his “Millsaps email account to share personal opinions with [his] students.” FIRE wrote Millsaps on December XX, explaining that Bowley’s expression of opinion falls squarely within Millsaps’ policy that when “speaking or writing as a citizen, the teacher is free from institutional censorship or discipline[
1. Only three students in this absurd class is a good sign
2. Millsaps has had enough of the woke garbage. 5 years ago they would have celebrated this professor.
Also, unrelated, this professor's son in law was found dead in the Pearl River not too long ago. Lots of drama surrounding the suspicious death.

You’re a sick, vile person. To wish anal rape on a human? What is the federal felony you think DOJ should investigate?
You’re no different than the ANTIFA types wishing bodily harm on others for disagreeing with them.
The college handled it properly. Stop being a petulant child with homoerotic visions of violence on your thought opponents.

Don't be pedantic. Had he shared the opinion that Jiff was better than Skippy no one here would have ever known about it.

Now boys, this professor looks like David Van Dreissen, the teacher of Beavis and Butthead, okay?

Here's a hot sports opinion.
Few things are more overpriced in the US than a degree from a small liberal arts college. At best, these are six figure investments for getting into law or medical school. Those that don't move on to professional programs have a degree in Barista Sciences.

How much money is being spent on a course with only three students? They should have canceled the course after registration.

Here's the ugly truth about small liberal arts colleges.
They used to be a place for higher order thinkers to receive a well rounded education. A graduate of Millsaps, Centenary, et. al. could prove to be a highly effective business or organizational leader.
The concept of the Honors College became mainstream, and the flagship and major universities started attracting these higher order thinkers. They could get the same well rounded education and still enjoy a typical college life that includes B1G/SEC Saturdays, Greek life, etc. It started in the Midwest and spread South. Its still not a big thing out West.
About 20-25 years ago, in an effort to survive, these small liberal arts colleges had to start attracting a different type of student. What happened is the smart, activist type started attending these schools. They quickly took over campus culture. In the short term, the schools may have thrived a little bit. But in the long term, normal students were pushed away from these campuses.
In the last decade, these schools, mostly NCAA Division III, have tried to use athletics as a survival tool. Preying on parents of athletes who just can't give it up, and have invested their identities into being an average athlete, have flocked to Division III schools. And these athletes are far from the type of student that these schools have recruited in the past. There is very little higher order thinking, and the athletes are anti-woke. So you have professors like this that latch on to the last beacon of students that can be activists and teach a class like Abortions and Religion to three (probably female) students who have no real job prospects and $50k in student loans.

And my parents thought “baseball theory” was a bullshite class and had a military recruiter before the end of my first semester. Can’t image what they would’ve said seeing this class.

True. I got a 'History of Centenary' book when I graduated. The 19th Century classes were brutal. Classes were early morning till evening 6 days a week with mandatory church attendance on Sunday.
You entered at age 14 and graduated at 18. No females allowed. No electricity so you studied and wrote term papers by the light of lanterns.
If you couldn't speak Latin you were a moron. You were expected to get a good job by age 19 and get married at 20.

What value will you add at any place of employment by taking this class?

Millsaps enrollment down to 600-700.
Once upon a time if was over 1,000, probably closer to 1,500.
Ole Miss and MSU killed Millsaps when they started the honors divisions. Kids could go there on a full ride. Hard for Millsaps to compete with. Unlike Belhaven, it hasn't adapted.
