re: Socialism in North America: tried since 1620 and failed, but it will work now, right?

Amish are nothing close to Socialism
They are an example of the collective/individual balance.
In pure form, either extreme fails:
hyper-collectivism will bring stagnation, suppression of dissent, authoritarian regimes where personal dreams are sacrificed, innovation is stymied, progress halts.
hyper-individualism will bring fragmentation, law of the jungle, everyone for themselves, the weak are left behind, no social trust, progress halts.
Alexander the Great didn't conquer the known world without the collective effort of his people.
And the soldiers in his army wouldn't be motivated to act collectively if there were no individual rewards.
Aristotle's golden mean at work.

Amish are nothing close to Socialism, they are theocratically insular but individual contribution through labor and discipline is paramount. They also embody the early Protestant work-ethic which Socialism, in all its forms, abhors.
For whatever its worth, the USSR had a criminal charge of social parasitism for those who refused to do assigned labor. This would often be charged against intelligentsia and academics who thought they were above manual labor duties.

Socialism always fails because it's the opposite of human nature. People are not designed to work for the benefit of others. Our primary concern is self, family, neighbors...in that order of importance. People in the USSR worked as little as possible in their job and constantly stole items. Working hard did not move you up the ladder to higher pay.

China is getting so bad, they are now offering the same enticements to lure professionals from all technical segments of the marketplace to keep pace with America.
Poorer housing opportunities, scarce food and living conditions is the greatest challenge China has to keep up.

Sounds like you have subscribed to modern day progressive university teaching about Capitalism.

Their housing mess is a good example of what happens when you don't let supply/demand rule the market. The govt. built tons of apartment complexes where nobody wants to live. Now, they're just empty and rotting.

Throughout the world where capitalism isn’t the system there isn’t a higher standard of living. One could argue maybe looking at China advances but they instituted a form of capitalism built around slave labor & threats. No system is perfect nor can it be
China is like a cartel boss who doesn't use but gets rich selling his cheap crack to all the addicts, and in this case, we know who the addicts are

I prescribe to the teachings that we must make ourselves second and love one another. If modern conservatism wants to grasp onto libidinal pleasure instinct applied to all things, then it has stopped being conservative and has started being reactionary liberalism.

Conservatives once stood against the things you rail against here. The modern man has traded values for trinkets, and few "real" people exist.

So you consider capitalism to be a form of cultural lust for immediate self gratification that is only interested in the “self” being #1. A teaching that aligns with Freud. Like I said before … “ Sounds like you have subscribed to modern day progressive university teaching about Capitalism”.

I don’t think capitalism has those characteristics in a vacuum. I think it can indulge those characteristics in the right cultural context. I think as it exists in the US, it is closer to the negative analysis I provided than it should be.

It will work this time because we have this super generation of young white womyn who have figured out all the complexities of economics and human nature in a way that nobody could before. I mean think about it, until they came along we thought women couldn’t have horse cocks. Look at how far they have moved society FORWARD!

Socialism is nothing more than communism wearing a dress in a capitalist society.
When you lefties say you are "socialist democrats" you are just admitting you are communists, but you can't enact it all the way just yet.
