quote:

The film fails to show one of the most integral moments of American history – when Armstrong plants the American flag on the moon, according to The Telegraph. Ryan Gosling, the Canadian actor who portrays Armstrong in the movie, defended the decision to not show the flag. Gosling was asked at the Venice Film Festival whether omitting the scene was deliberate and the actor attempted to sidestep the question by responding that the moon landing “transcended countries and borders.”

quote:

Gosling said he didn’t think Armstrong “viewed himself as an American hero.”

quote:

Gosling jokingly admitted he might have “cognitive bias” being that he’s Canadian.

AND THERE IT IS. CANADA AND THE REST OF THE WORLD ARE JEALOUS SHITHOLE NATIONS.

If he talked to Armstrong, I'd like to hear his response to this.

Armstrong was an old school American male. You god damn right he loved this country and it’s accomplishments.

He knew and embraced he was an AMERICAN HERO!

Ask and you shall receive:

quote:

“I think this was widely regarded in the end as a human achievement [and] that's how we chose to view it,” he told reporters. "I also think Neil was extremely humble, as were many of these astronauts, and time and time again he deferred the focus from himself to the 400,000 people who made the mission possible.” Gosling said he didn’t think Armstrong “viewed himself as an American hero.” “From my interviews with his family and people that knew him, it was quite the opposite.

ahh, typical liberal -- easily fooled.

What is Armstrong supposed to say when he lands on the moon.... frick yeah, it was all me.

It is called CLASS and dignity. Like the QB who immediately credits his OLine for him throwing the 60 yard pinpoint bomb.

Class and dignity, completely foreign concepts to the left.

I’m sure they also cut the prayers spoken and Buzz taking holy communion too. Probably been tastefully replaced with a prayer rug and pride march.

If it had nothing to do with national pride then why did they stick an American flag into the surface of the moon? How much did Canada pay for it? How many Mexican nationals made the trip? Screw the globalists that want to share the riches of American success while bashing our country and everything that made it great.

yep its SJW "you didnt build that yourself america, everyone in the world did"

it is the equivalent of making a movie about Iwo Jima that doesnt include the flag being raised because we can have anything that recognizes american exceptionalism, because that is being racist towards the rest of the planet

I think people are overlooking the "hero" part of that statement, which was in context of the conversation about his humility and insistence on recognizing the efforts of everyone involved. Here is what immediately preceded the "American Hero" comment in the Telegraph article:
quote:

I also think Neil was extremely humble, as were many of these astronauts, and time and time again he deferred the focus from himself to the 400,000 people who made the mission possible.
quote:

He was reminding everyone that he was just the tip of the iceberg - and that's not just to be humble, that's also true.
