He worked at the NACA (pre-NASA) research center after his limiting career, eventually becoming an experimental research pilot, then oversaw NASA research in aeronautics, before becoming a professor in aeronautical engineering at the University of Cincinnati where he worked in the Heimlich Project (with the Heimlich maneuver inventor) which eventually led to the Heimlich Micro Pump.

I realize all this, but his phD didn't come until AFTER his astronaut career. Harrison Schmidt was the only astronaut to walk on the moon with a phD under his belt. Armstrong, like the other astronauts in his class, was chosen for the space program due to his flying experience. Just about every single one of the astronauts at that time had a degree or masters in aeronautical engineering.

I’m sure they also cut the prayers spoken and Buzz taking holy communion too

Some muslims claim Armstrong heard the call to prayer while he was on the moon and converted to islam.

I really couldn’t care less and I will go watch the he movie. I just doubt it was a business decision. It is almost never a good idea to make business decisions based upon politics.
