So, about those $4 trillion pumped in the market at the beginning of the pandemic and the PPP loans forgiven to business owners (some of whom were multi-millionaires) ...

... any takes on that?

Yeah, they forced them to shut down or operate under asinine conditions where they couldn't make money.

Why should a business pay back a loan that was given solely because the government shut them down and didn't allow them to operate?

Sure...I'm not bitter at all for having taken out loans and spent over a decade struggling to pay them back.

I just wonder what the number of voters out there that are just like you is compared to the one's getting the government handout are? And then there are the middle class voters that have never taken out a student loan that now feel the government is making them responsible for paying back somebody else's loan. I do not see this as a WIN for Democrats as some people on here do. This will be the Democrats Roe v. Wade issue. That is if you believe the SC court decision on Roe v. Wade hurts Republicans.

Yea causing worsening of inflation. These people are fricking retarded and they keep playing with fire by continuing to give people handouts in an inflationary environment. It’s dumb to the point that it seems intentional.

What’s the point here? We are talking about student loans.

However, the lion's share of people positively affected by this is and was going to vote dem anyway.

Possibly. But it also incentivizes people who may have sat things out to go and vote for the dems. Because the mean republicans don’t care about you and want you in debt. Just like how the argument is framed that we don’t care about women because we want states to determine their own abortion laws or think that abortion on demand should be scaled back to specific circumstances.

quote:

In the long run, it helps Trump.

Rush said it for a long time: “It’s hard to beat Santa Claus.”

The dems give away everything and in this case the amount of money is large enough to make a difference.

I’m hoping I’m wrong and that people see through this.

I thought Pell Grants didn't have to be paid back.

Not only have I paid off my loans, but I managed to save enough to pay my kid's college off. I'm getting double f'ed.

People who didn't go to college but have managed to build a decent life should really be pissed.

That might need clarification. Because I believe my CPA said it only pertained to the money the Feds were giving for people on unemployment due to COVID. And that was up to a certain amount for single and another for married. Mine fell just the limit for married.

what about people who paid their loans back.....

What about people who worked while in collage so they didnt have to take out loans....

what about parent who saved up to help their kids not have to take out loans....

What about a certain sector of society that when to college only for the reason to take out loans to get "free" money they never intended to pay off and are now getting what they wanted.....

What about them?

What am I missing on pell grants?

quote:

A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid, except under certain circumstances. Find out why you might have to repay all or part of a federal grant. You may not receive Federal Pell Grant funds from more than one school at a time.

They do not, hence being called a grant. But, its been my experience seeing hundreds of students, those on Pell Grants are usually the poorest of students and start off at a disadvantage versus non-pell grant students.

I wonder how many of you got a gov't hand out by having ultra cheap tuition in the 70's, 80's and 90's because public universities were once supported by the public to the tune of about 80% budget? I bet you were not screaming about that gov't hand out back then...

Forgiveness for a grant?

So...a $20k cash payment?

Not buying votes at all.

Very few Pell Grants cover all tuition and fees. Typically the student subsidizes with student loan. So to say someone who got a Pell Grant got a free ride, is just not true. That may be 1% of Pell Grant recipients. Most get awarded very small amounts.
