I was wrong.....did not give him a chance!
I am elated! What a huge political turnaround this fall.....
Bottom line: ALL people are tired of poorly run governments!

I’d call them useless as an entity, but in reality, they are actually much worse than that.

I really want to see the demographic breakdown of this election. Wondering if the GOP has made substantial inroads with the African American community thanks to Trump.
No clue about that, but when her campaign thought it was a great idea to send her election flyer to St. George with one of the bullet points as holding up St. George going forward, her time had come. As an Independent, I would like to see the breakdown, but I am thrilled with it being a beat down.

I’m so happy I remembered to vote and I woke up shocked to hear this. I had just assumed Broome would win.

I know exactly what he will say. Here is a summation: Broome loses because of racism.

Tonight, all I want to do is thank Mayor Sharon Weston Broome for dedicating 36 years of her life to the service of Baton Rouge.
When she took office in 2016, Black people were receiving just 2% of city-parish contracts. Today, that number has grown into the double digits. Under her leadership, Baton Rouge established its first-ever office focused on diversity in contracts. Mayor Broome also championed a historic billion-dollar roads plan to improve infrastructure, the largest in the parish’s history, creating thousands of jobs in the process.
She helped our city recover after the devastating 2016 flood and led with strength and compassion during the turmoil following the killing of Alton Sterling. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Mayor Broome kept Baton Rouge steady, guiding the city through unprecedented challenges, including public health crises and economic uncertainty. Her efforts prioritized community resilience, expanding access to healthcare and essential resources in underserved areas.
Today, thanks to her leadership, North Baton Rouge has at least four new healthcare clinics that didn’t exist when she took office.
There will be a time to analyze what happened in this election—and make no mistake, I intend to have that conversation. But tonight, my focus is on gratitude. Thank you, Mayor Broome, for your service, your leadership, and your unwavering commitment to Baton Rouge.
Politics is brutal, and elections have consequences. But let’s not lose sight of this: In the 206-year history of Baton Rouge, only 19 of those years have seen a Black mayor. Out of 64 mayors, only two were Black. That’s the reality we face, and it underscores just how rare and significant her leadership has been.

And in the same amount of time, only 12 years were run under a republican. Since the civil war, all have been D's...the same party Gary is in. So basically he doesn't care about the party, he only cares about your race.

You think democrats are “staunchly” against abortion? That’s funny.
