At this point I want to see how they handle it. All they will do to keep it running, is pass earmarked 9,000 page bills that will cost the people more.

shite, the Republicans can't even agree on anything, so how are they going to pass the 9,000 pages?

In all seriousness, as a government employee, it's always infuriating to watch these idiots this time of year. They use us as pawns, then when they can't agree on shite, we go home without pay, but they still get paid. And they make more than damn near every government employee. And these bullshite shutdowns don't just affect federal employees, either.

If it wasn't for the fact that I enjoy my job, and couldn't make anywhere near what I make or have the benefits that I have in the private sector, I'd have left years ago.

It's fun to sit back and think about hard conservatives would melt if a democratic ex-president was under multiple investigations and then the Dems shut the entire government down to block the investigation's funding lol.

Might as well.

It's not like the border will suddenly be unguarded.

McCarthy sent them home in August - they could have stayed in DC and done their job.

Dems don’t care as they know that the MSM will brand the Republicans and they’ll give in sooner or later. It’s the Biden model: give me what I want and fire the prosecutor or you don’t get the money. Biden wants a blank check to keep paying for his “fundamental change “. He’ll get it with few meaningful cuts while the Republicans say that they need to get this off their back in order to win seats in Congress. The money printing press will indeed fail soon enough but it won’t be Republicans that do it. It’ll be the crash of the USD along with the Constitutional Republic.

It shuts down every weekend every holiday even Groundhog Day, how many months they get off throughout the year?
It shuts down all the time.

Try to scare people into thinking that their police protection and the fire departments , mail are going to shut down.
The only thing that’s affected are federal employees which turns out to be a vacation anyway because they get back pay.

Seriously
Tell me which part of our daily lives as citizens, short and long term, would be worse if the government shut down

Every spending bill is like Christmas for politicians.. they get to gleefully pass a ton of shite that is beneficial to the special interest groups that support them.

True, but it's alot easier when you do your job. The boss tends to stay off your back when you do.

And for everyone saying shut it down...realize this: the majority of federal workers don't work during a shutdown, but still get paid once the spending bill is passed...and that is inevitable.

Shutdowns literally accomplish nothing. Never have, and never will.

Plenty, whether you realize it or not.

For one, the cost of food would likely increase substantially if it weren't for government subsidies, crop insurance programs, and financial assistance programs.

I know you’ll prolly get down voted for saying this. But you’re exactly correct.

Every single shutdown, furlough, etc. ends up costing the taxpayer more when they finally do pass CR’s or an actual budget.

Also, every single government employee gets back paid for every hour of shutdown. So while the ‘gov employees get paid to do nothing’ joke goes a long way, it’s quite literally accurate once a shutdown ends.
