That is what they are enthusiastically doing with Flock.

The answer to you question is NO.

This is a problem right now. These cameras seemingly went up everywhere, almost over night.

Not no, but hell no.... So many videos coming out showing police misuse of the system.

One thing I don't understand is how the frick do they allow every officers to have access to the system? I could see if detectives did, but why should a line level officer?

someone told me that if your cellphone call goes through the internet, law enforcement doesn't need a warrant to listen in.

The answer is YES. When you’re moving around in public with no expectation of privacy, I’m afraid you’re fair game.

About 2 years ago we were discussing all the license plate readers that were EVERYWHERE...

One has been in operation on a local highway ( flock, not DOT ) for more than 7 years....

But you all willingly carry GPS tracking devices that the manufacturers refuse to turn off while your driving - even though it's the number one danger to people on the road.
I wonder why.

This is the current state of the law based on laws and decisions originally made 100 years ago before cameras were ubiquitous. I’m not sure that this doesn’t need to be revisited. Allowing the government to constantly track everyone’s movements 24/7 is troubling - very 1984ish.

Absolutely not, which is one of the reasons so many cops are getting arrested and charged for misusing it

I agree with the initial premise. The issue turns when the government uses it like a tracking device which they would have to get a warrant for normally. Also you are being tracked passively without any type of investigation or reasoning for the Government to monitor you.

That is way false.

Also here's some reading for all in here.

I don't support flock cameras.

I don't understand the OUTRAGE over something that has been going on so long, and I think it's a distraction that keeps us off of ACTUAL threats, like islam in America.

I've got an idea. Maybe get your local city/parish/county council to establish rules that allow for easier firing of police officers that abuse the system.

You movements can be tracked without the cams, this has been proven. But these cameras do not track you everywhere You go. Again, proven. And as far as lots of police misuse, yes there has been, but no more than any other piece of info they can collect. This actually happens in hospitals too. But also one thing no one speaks of is all the good that comes from these cameras

So they can't trail or follow you either?

I tend to agree with this.

Absolutely yes. If you aren't committing criminal acts, it should be of no concern that you are being tracked.
