Should a Democrat president in 2029 be allowed to demolish Trump's Ballroom?

Let's say that President AOC decides a fancy, golden Ballroom is at odds with what ordinary Americans want, and decides the area should be a "green space"?

She gets half the funds for the project from undisclosed sources and half come from public money already allocated to funds the White House controls.

Should she be able to do the project without Congressional approval?

After what the last Democrat "POTUS" demolished, a ballroom is the least of my worries.

We have bigger issues with these demons in this party today than worrying about this.

Sure.

We can go back to hosting official state functions in a tent and lose a lot of office space just to be petty, but I can't see why it would be illegal.

How can it not be allowed to build it, but it would be allowed to destroy it?

I’ll take that bet. But also, sincerely doubt whomever is president in 2029 demolishes this abortion of a building.

If she does, it will be exactly what needs to happen to get Republicans back to the White House by the next election cycle.

Sure, whatever powers Trump used to demolish that wing and build the ballroom should be allowed to be used by whomever comes after him.

If you're not ok with whomever is next modifying the WH then you should be against what Trump is doing.

That's what I think the law requires regarding major alterations to federally owned buildings.

I appreciate the consistency though: "If Trump can do it, why wouldn't any president be able to do what they want?"

The Ballroom sounds like a great idea. I don't think the Republican Congress would have had any problems in approving it if Trump sought approval and federal funding from the beginning.

I wonder why the Administration didn' go to Congress in the first place? Too risky?

If he gets elected, he can do pretty much anything Trump can do.

Military likely wouldn't allow it. More likely they'll rename it to the George Floyd memorial ball room or something like that.
