I got the shingles vax 11 days ago. My arm was sore for two or three days, but that was trivial. For about 24 hours, and although I had no fever, I felt a little bit feverish. Not a big deal at all.

My wife had even less of an issue.

VZV reactivation (i.e. shingles) is a well-established phenomenon both with infections and with multiple vaccines (not just covid vaccines).

I had Chicken pox when I was a tiny 1 or 2. (same virus as it remains dormant in your system.

I got shingles at age 35. it wasn't too bad.... not a very bad case I guess.

Then I got the vaccine at age 50..... it sucked,.... knocked me on my arse for a day.

I had shingles about 10 years ago. I hope and pray I never have to go through that again.

Take the vax.

No symptoms other than slight soreness at injection site, for both shots.

The same is true for 5 other family members….some did not even get the sore arm.

shingles is baaaad fairly commonly, and can even be permanently debilitating

the shot is no big deal and works well

I’m counting on genetics to see me through the shingles threat. As far as I know, my paternal grandmother’s sister was my only relative who ever had shingles on either side of my family. I’m past 60, and I haven’t had shingles. I think and hope that heredity will help me.

Get it. No brainer.
Shingles is bad.
If you had chicken pox, you have the virus waiting to be reactivated.

You should pass on the vaccine.

Why would anyone want a vaccine? Those things can kill you.

Shingles is nothing. Like basically nothing. Don’t be fooled.

But you shouldn’t get the vaccine under any circumstances.

Speaking from personal experience and what my dad has been through after being pressured into the shingles vax by the VA, don’t do it.

Ended up with a case of shingles lasting 6 months. Unexplained mutation of his WBC’s that was neither leukemia or cancer. Low blood cell count, low platelet count. Lost about 50 lbs, wrecked his entire immune system and if it wasn’t for me putting him on protein shakes and a B vitamin complex he probably would have starved to death thanks to the assholes at the VA
