I don't see the connection between Beethoven's magnificent "Ode to Joy", and slavery and oppression. On the contrary, it's about freedom and brotherhood of all men.

Would love to see what the sheet music for some hip hop and gangsta rap looks like
Would it include annotations for the hand gestures?

They seem to be an integral part of the "music."

Is this where I get to further interject that people of color, who play instruments or music that use the European scale are committing cultural appropriation and should be cancelled and lose all credibility? Maybe they shouldn't be allowed to sing songs with English language words either.

And "Rap" is garbage, always was. White liberals can say it's "street poetry" or whatever bullshite they tell themselves, but it's just a bunch of idiots getting shot every week while degrading their own culture by glorifying criminal lifestyles. Replacing Beethoven with that is a crime against humanity, pure idiocracy level.

Like with math, it's hard, they aren't getting the results they want, so they deem it racist. With a side dish of tearing down western culture. frick these people.

Well, they cancelled math first. Actually, it was the SAT math. It was racist because apparently some schools in certain areas don't teach numbers to their kids.

Music is complicated. Very much mathematical, but also creative, which makes it much more difficult. But, apparently, all you need to excel in music these days is a drummer and a silver bikini, and a music video where you rub your crotch on a pole. The latter of which is not a learned, intelligent development in music, but an appeal to the basic instincts even chickens have.

More liberals dumbing down society and erasing literally everything humans struggled and worked to achieve.

My grandchildren will NOT have cell phone service because cell phone service revolves around having a knowledge of radio waves, engineering, satellite technology, general relativity, etc., which is all white oppression.

My only hope is that most of the idiots 50 years from now drive into a fricking river because they've outlawed math and physics from cell phone geolocation.

Western Culture lmao. A lot of western culture and traditions come from black forms of arts like Jazz, R&b, Hip-hop, Rock N' Roll. It's also funny that you believe there's some universal western culture when there's already huge cultural divides between states, urban vs rural living, the wealthy and underclass. But yeah, rap is the problem. Totally not the underlying conditions and historical discrimination that created "hip hop culture."

As usual, ideologues at the fringe are usually idiots. At Oxford, perhaps “highly-intelligent idiots,” but idiots nonetheless.

Idiot ideologues are in control now. You will NOT play any chord progression except I-IV-V and you WILL, if female, wear next to nothing and rub your vagina on a pole. Otherwise, it's not music.

Aren't all of these based on the European scale of music?

Every music student should enroll at a school that teaches what they desire to learn, sue Oxford for tuition and expenses incurred when the course fraudulently claimed students would graduate with a degree of music knowledge.
These woke tenured professors don't seem to realise they are hired contractors paid to provide a service, and nothing more.

I have no problem with teaching the other forms of music like Jazz. However classical music was pretty much the first form of mainstream music and genres like Jazz used instruments that requires understanding sheet music in order to play those instruments.

This is retarded and classical music has nothing to do with white supremacy or racism. Anything great ever done by white people is being labeled racist. It’s deliberate destruction of western art and culture

If you want to be so reductive and say that notes are an entirely a European construction then maybe lmao and even that's not really true . Don't be that disingenuous. The things that actually define a genre such as arrangement, compositions, beat emphasis, rhythms, tonality, timbres, harmony choices all have a basis in black history. Hell, the most popular ragtime jingle came from Scott Joplin's "The Entertainer."

So WC Handy was a racist. Who knew?

Wiki

quote:

William Christopher Handy (November 16, 1873 – March 28, 1958) was a composer and musician[1] who referred to himself as the Father of the Blues.[2][3] Handy was one of the most influential songwriters in the United States.[4] One of many musicians who played the distinctively American blues music, Handy did not create the blues genre but was the first to publish music in the blues form, thereby taking the blues from a regional music style (Delta blues) with a limited audience to a new level of popularity.[4]

If it is all based on black historical music, then why don't black musicians stick to playing instruments that would have originated in Africa?

All because he knew how to write music in classical form.
