Why is called Election Day when most official results arent determined until the following day? Shouldn’t it be voting day? And why do we drive on a parkway but park on a driveway??!

Until biometrics let my vote from my iPhone, I’ll take 15 minutes out of my day to early vote in city hall every single election.

You are just afraid that more liberals and socialists will be able to vote if it's a national holiday.

It's cute how you think the turnout would increase among the segment of the population who is not at work on that day anyway.

God I hate to admit this knowing that she said it, but I've always wondered this as well.

We should at least have the day off for presidential elections, they are the most important day when it comes to determining our country's future. Do away with early voting and absentee ballots and give everyone the day off.

I have a bigger issue with Tuesday as Election Day as it is a relic tied to a time when we were an agrarian nation and people needed time to travel and vote.

Why not a couple of consecutive Saturdays or Fridays...might not increase participation, but try something different in a national election.

A failed barista? She graduated cum laude from Boston University's College of Arts and Sciences in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in economics and international relations. Now she's a Congresswoman at 29 years old, making $175,000 a year. What have you done with your life that makes yourself so much better?

This too. Voting is the most important thing we can do as a citizen, we should try to make it as fair and easy as possible for everyone to vote. Make it two days, make it across a weekend, make the hours available late. And ultimately figure out a way to securely vote online.

No it shouldn't and WTF is wrong with early voting?

Sorry,I'm not standing in a line for more than 15 mins to vote aND the only way you can do it in any large metro area is early voting.

A voting "holiday" would be a complete cluster frick at the polls and traffic would also be a nightmare.

And the best job she could get in the private sector was a bartender?

Unless George Soros hires her for some phony NGO job she could never sniff 6 figures outside of politics.

Probably confusing Election with Erection. It's that tricky English language. And very possibly she and many of her friends have more directly benefited from the latter. But hey anything for a day off.

my nieces in GA had no school on Election Day. I guess so the teachers union can go vote D

A lot of schools, esp in rural areas in the south close, due to them being used as voting precincts...Especially during a Presidential election...

What? It's a freakin recipe for disaster.
It would be a complete cluster frick in major metropolitan areas...voting lines would be horrendous along with traffic and would if you had a major storm or some other weather related issues on that particular day?

You think these election officials are incompetent now with 45 days of voting to tabulate results and you wanna give these idiots ONE day? God almight,it might take 2 months to find out who won a close election.

Want to explain to me how an election would work on a day that government workers would get off (show me one holiday where they don't) with no early voting?
