Like our mayor here in Lafayette, the daughter of LA's most infamous liberal democrat female governor. Every consulting firm in LA tells candidates that they can't win as democrats, so they just re-label themselves as R's.
We all knew this, so it wasn't like she wasn't vetted. Nevertheless, we still got saddled with her.
I have to say the voters share a lot of the blame, though.

The allegiance to the corrupt DC Uniparty system is a requirement for every bureaucrat and particularly for every member of Congress who wants to make serving in Congress a career.
Remember, when AOC, Omar, Talib, Pressley and a few other newby Dims elected to Congress back in 2018 made a pledge to oppose Pelosi as speaker. The opposition of Pelosi as speaker by the squad lasted just a few weeks. Pelosi called squad into her office for a meeting and that was the end of the squad opposing Pelosi for speaker. My guess is Pelosi asked the newbies a simple question,
