It's a pretty cool city to visit. There's a lot of things to see. But I'd never live there. As far as homeless go, Portland has Seattle beat. To me, Portland was a huge disappointment. Not a lot to see there except you can go through it and get to the Oregon coast which is pretty nice (I-5 down).

A free bus ticket to any spot in the US (or preferably to Mexico or Canada) is a social welfare program I can get behind. Hell a lot of cities have been doing this for decades with homeless people whenever a big event comes to town. A Superbowl is likely Greyhounds biggest time of year with host cities. Any homeless person who can't manage a free bus ticket to anywhere in the US is not trying at all.

Maybe....but there's a lot to see anywhere else too. I cannot fathom planning a visit to see Seattle/Portland etc...when you can pick anywhere else more inviting to visit.

Our trip was to Central Washington mainly to see Mt. St. Helens and some other sights but while you're there, why not go see what you can?
We also went to Astoria, the Haystack Rock (we're Goonies fans) and the Tillamook factory. That was pretty fun (very good cheese and ice cream!).
I love to go to California (mainly Yosemite and even the Bay Area). It's my favorite state to vacation in but I would never live there.
Never let the weirdos trigger you out of enjoying life. Just because the left triggers easily and are snowflakes doesn't mean we have to be either.
