Anyone old enough to remember we have delt with them before? We had these pests back in the 50's and 60,s and used a technique called S.I.T. Looks like we need to revisit that info.

Everything I've read says ivermectin deals with it. End of story.

Who suspects Bill Gates reintroduced the screw worm and other ones, to make his fake meat more marketable.

I talked about this, yesterday, with my in-laws in Utah. They only have about 120 head of Black Angus, but their cattle are selling for a much higher price now as a result of the screw worm issue.

I'm old enough that I remember talking to Oklahoma ranchers who remember the issue. I grew up around a lot of cattle ranchers and their memories are generational.
TX knows how to deal with these problems and they're already all over it, releasing sterile males into the population. They've done this kind of thing with other parasite-and-disease-carrying pests before too, and it's effective.
Meanwhile, Bill Gates is still funding the drop-boxes of billions of infected ticks all across the Midwest and Plains. Alpha Gal and Lyme! Yay! Never forget your DEET. Practice controlled burns. Get yourself some chickens and guineas.

Did Worm consent to this action?

I work with some ranchers who say that the last Screw Worm outbreak made for some really good cowboys. I guess the only way to stay on top of it was to stay in the saddle and check the herd constantly. There was apparently this ointment stuff that you could apply to the cattle that helped that smelled like hell. All the old cowboys I've spoken to said they can still smell it!
Unfortunately, this outbreak was not a surprise. You can even go back to Secretary Rollin's press conferences from a year ago announcing this and that as screw worm mitigation efforts. None of those came to fruition and the eradication method of releasing sterilized flies has been stuck for over a year. The USDA guy who went down to Mexico to assess the situation last summer came back and raised the red flag and was fired pretty soon after. This whole deal has put the cattlemen at odds with Secretary Rollins. Unusual dynamic for a USDA Secretary from Texas!

Used to see them in Alabama in the mid-1960's. Knew they were nasty creatures then too. They were pretty in their own way though all shiny and colorfull.

It really does unfortunately. I wake up thinking I’m younger or just unaware of my older age and then I’m quickly reminded when I move to get out of bed and everything hurts. Sucks
