We’re still several years away from adequate inventory for the housing market. Lower rates would certainly help but inventory needs to increase.

Schiff introduces bill to create a 'Housing Boom'

We just came off a housing boom and it wasn't great. Now every contractor is driving a 2500 Denali and charging me $10,000 to power wash my driveway or swap a toilet. Housing prices were artificially high and are stagnating in many places.

It gives $15 Billion to people in loans and grants (through HUD) so they can get affordable housing.

And this is the worst part. It's not an organically generated housing boom, it's government handouts. So a huge chunk will go to "california-approved contractors" that are in Newsom's pocket. This will be almost as successful as the California High Speed Rail system. It is a boondoggle plain and simple.

Should have vote for Harris. Promised to build 3 million homes for the 20 million illegals.

You know what would create a boom? If the Fed gove stayed out of the market and let it naturally reset. That happening at the same time boomers are dying off would = tons of affordable housing but it would also wipe out net worth and inheritances so they would never allow that.
Eh. The one thing I think the fed needs to get involved with is banning corporations or groups of very rich individuals (especially those not based in the US) from buying up inventory with cash offers at 20-30 percent over asking price. That shite is not good for the average American or the housing market

That makes it sound easy. Why not just introduce a bill that makes everyone a billionaire? All our problems would be solved!

Agree.

Interest rate seem to be slowly coming down. As the economy and wages improve people will have more ability to get into a house.

Illegals who work in construction are being ushered out which can make new construction cost higher but
boomers are downsizing and will be giving up their existing houses for nursing homes and that can be an offset.

Not only that market but almost every other market also. Everything they put their hand on turns to shite.

They spend decades in office spending trillions trying to fix problems they created.

Yeah, let's recreate another version of the 1980's S&L crisis. That would be terrific.

Schiff is arguably the biggest scumbag in Washington, and that's saying a lot because he has plenty of competition.

Here's a problem that came up locally but may be a nationwide issue. A young middle class married couple (no kids, both work) want a small, nice apartment in a decent neighborhood where they can save money for a house when they have kids. These days those apartments are expensive if they're not in a big complex. But residents of that decent neighborhood lobby to block construction of apt complexes. Is this creating a problem for young people today? It was no problem when I got married in the 70s.
