Scalia and Ginsburg

Many don’t know that Antonin Scalia and Ruth Bader Ginsburg were actually close friends. They were polar opposites on the Court and in their legal philosophies, but had a lot of respect and admiration for each other. They made each other better Supreme Court Justices. Here is a nice picture of them riding an elephant together while vacationing:

I’d say a lot of people didn’t know it, especially when you consider that half the country probably can’t name anyone on the Supreme Court. Plus, I didn’t claim to be breaking this news, just mentioning something that many people may not have known.

Which is why you can’t completely trust someone, even as good as Scalia. He knew she was an activist judge, putting agenda ahead of the Constitution. How does anyone decent find enough redeeming qualities to befriend a person like that? Especially when both of your job descriptions involve making decisions according to the original intent of the founders.
