The tollway that loops around Austin is 80mph. But you can pretty much go whatever because only State Troopers can pull you over on the Tollway and I've never seen on on there.

Watched the whole thing.

Officer was polite and professional.

As a white male my police experiences occurred the same way, and I see nothing wrong with the cop.

Now the motorist is a racist piece of shite pushing the BS BLM agenda. Cop should sue her racist libelous arse!

Bet if she goes to court he won’t have to refresh his memory with the back of the ticket!

I'm not so blind to think that all cops are complete boy scouts. Most of them are really great people doing a very hard job. But there are some that abuse the power that they can wield. I'm all for purging those types out.

But when you publicize false flags like this over and over, it ends the conversation faster than it started and it makes the next time something flares up even harder to discuss.

Well said.

Tollways have their own rules, and that one has some sort of special dispensation due to its remote location and sparce traffic. Fun to drive, though. I often use it to go to San Antonio.

At what point does this become slander against police officers?

Slander isn't illegal, and theoretically this cop could sue this woman.

But he'd have a hard time proving damages and that is one of the elements needed to prove libel or slander and win a civil suit.

In other words , if I accused you of having sex with a monkey on this web site that's a lie (I hope) but you are unlikely to have suffered any damages from it, so you would not win a law suit.

Yep, I was shocked and pleased to see a posted sign for 75 mph on a two-lane road in Texas.

Yet it's mostly 65mph on the interstate between Beaumont and Houston.

I think this is kinda missing my point. You are a rural 2 lane road in a state you don't live in. You are 50 years old and presumably have been driving since 16. Unless you are an idiot you don't assume the speed limit in this instance is 70 unless you see a sign telling you that. 99% of the time in the us it's going to be 55, as a life of driving experience should tell you. Legally, it doesn't matter if you saw a sign or not, by taking to the road it's on you to over the posted traffic laws regardless of if you saw the sign. If that were not the case you could never be guilty of speeding by just never looking at a speed limit sign

The ACLU is backing off body cams now because of so many cases like this where it vindicates the police and proves the accuser a liar.

Predicted the anti cop crowd would regret pushing for video.

For example, he could have explained that the signature is simply a means of providing evidence that she received a copy of the ticket.

He was wrong when he said that she was REQUIRED to sign the ticket. He could have explained that the signature is actually a courtesy, to avoid the necessity of arresting every speeder and immediately taking them before a magistrate.

But you ARE REQUIRED.

If you refuse then other measures ARE REQUIRED.

And why ARE WE YELLING. Lol

I'm well aware it is a civil claim.

Not really. Pain and suffering are damages.

Again, not true. If my identity were exposed, some people would think I'm fricking monkeys. That would be detrimental to my well-being and state of mind, not to mention career.

I was not aware the ACLU was changing it's tune.

From your last link...

quote:

One of the more significant changes involves what kind of video is subject to public release and what kind is not. Our view is that for privacy reasons, the majority of body-camera video should not be subject to public release. The exception is where there is a strong public interest in that video that outweighs privacy concerns: where there is a use of force, or a complaint against an officer. In the prior version, we also recommended that any video of a felony arrest be in that category, but we’ve decided that’s too broad, because it would encompass a wide variety of DUI and other routine arrests that, in the absence of a use of force or complaint against an officer, are not of vital public importance.

Translation: when there is an official complaint or allegation of abuse against a police officer, we think the footage should be released. But if someone wants to just spout off on social media about how law enforcement "harassed" and "abused" them, they should be able to have free reign without the law enforcement agency being able to set the record straight or defend themselves in the court of public opinion.

"you were going 70 in a 55"

"There is no sped limit sign"

He was a very nice cop. She was a huge count.
