I'm not saying it is justified either. I just know that when cops get murdered in the line of duty, eventually that information gets posted to all police for training.

The average citizen never gives one second to thinking about what might happen to them on the daily. Police officers don't have that luxury. Every interaction with someone could be their last. They have to remain in a heightened sense at all times.

People don't simply repeat "comply with the police and live" because they are pro-Police, but rather common sense people with home training that were taught that some people possess authority and it should be respected.

I don't conceal myself from police view after they pull me over.
I don't reach for the glove box or console unless asked to provide something and tell them where I'm reaching.
I don't keep my hands lowered where they are not visible, I place them on the steering wheel or towards the driver window where they can be seen.
I don't act rudely or say "why the frick are you harassing me"
I don't say "frick the police" "frick all ya'll"
I sit and comply. So simple.

It wasn’t a stop. Who is to stay the kid even realized it was a cop? Cop didn’t say he was one.

The fact that you think YOU having to do everything right to not be shot IS the problem.

We always say “cop stress” but what about our stress? This person was a kid. We can’t expect kids with not fully developed brains to react “perfect” to not be shot when an unannounced cop pulls up with a gun.

Forearm tats on the cops was a dead giveaway that he’s a blow hard with no business having a badge.
Also needs to be said that it’s not clear if the kid put it in reverse or took foot off brake. If you had somebody walk up behind you and open the door saying to get out what would you do? Needless to say, kid will get paid and shitty cop is already unemployed.

Let's see, a cop car behind you with flashing lights that you can see reflecting off the car he's behind.

But who's to know thats a cop? GTFOH

The cop opens the door and the kid is eating but then instantly try's to flee. That was obvious.

Let me guess, you are one of those "he's got to earn my respect"

There may be problems with the stop, but that kid trying to automatically put it in reverse and flee once he clearly knew it was a cop was just dumb.

That's the question "Who does that?"

You can break down everything you think the cop did wrong, but please at least have enough brain cells to acknowledge the kids reaction was stupid and almost deadly for him.

The only lights flashing was the kids taillight. Not a blue light present.

Meh - kid CLEARLY sees it's a cop for 2 seconds before putting it in reverse.

Cop doesn't shoot for another 5 seconds AFTER the car has traveled back 10+ feet.

Not great, but not "shot eating a burger" bullshite either.

Stop with the sensationalized headlines and you might get some people more on your side.

Walked up with gun pointed at driver

Do we know if this is true? There are a lot of responses that assume this to be true. The video clearly shows both hands with no gun in either when the kids starts reversing. It seems the gun was only pulled after the reversing and door hitting the cop.

Again...not justifying the cops actions. Just trying to get the story straight.

is it your standard operating procedure to open a strangers car door at night and stick a gun in their face?

I’m assuming you’re a cop. if you are, turn your badge in

As someone said, the time between the cop opening the door and starting to shoot is like 4 seconds, so yeah, he pretty much did.

It can still be a bad shooting without having to lie about it. The kid started backing up, I can’t tell you if it was intentional or not. But suggesting the guy opened the door, the kid looked at him, and he gunned him down doesn’t help.

Well, that isn't what happened, so what is your point?

Look again, you can see them reflecting off of the kids car.

You are wrong.

Show me a screenshot of where you see a gun pointed at him, BEFORE he puts it in reverse? I already posted 2 that show no gun in either hand.

This is the headline.

Not the stupid lie that he was shot for eating while not driving.

Good grief.

Having not seen anything else, I bet 100 bucks this is right. Now I'll have to look at it.

"Eating while not driving" is so obviously not a real thing.

Nah. In the Blake case, there were clearly identified LEO with a long entanglement with the perp.

In this other one, a kid was minding his business when a maniac flung his door open and put a gun in his face. Not clear at all that the kid even registered that it was a cop.
