I know right? Thank God that he gave us Martin Luther and the other reformers (who came from the OG reformed church, i.e., Roman Catholic) after letting His people wander in the wilderness and go to hell for fifteen centuries because they were in the "false church."
The RCC was corrupt for a long time but still maintained enough of the truth to be considered a true branch of Christ's one Church until they cut themselves off by anathematizing the gospel at the Council of Trent.

Instead of heeding the warnings of the Reformers (who were seeking to Reform the Catholic church to start with, before being kicked out), the RCC doubled down on its error.

quote:

Those poor church fathers who learned from the disciples were false teachers because *checks notes* FooManChoo said so.
Not quite. It took a long time before the RCC morphed into something other than it was founded as. Error came in slowly and gradually but really took off in the Middle Ages, when the power of the RCC came to full force over the State.

quote:

You don't know what you're talking about. Submit to THE church, not one of your tens of thousands of denominations and theologies.
I submit to Christ and His one Church in the branch that I belong to.

There is one Church, but it isn't situated in Rome.

Roman Catholic orthodox or eastern orthodox?
Either way he should read Triumph (The glory and power of the Catholic Church)
For people who want to regain the masculinity of western civilization this book is golden

Disappointing, had Pope Leo played his cards right, President Trump would have helped the Vatican end poverty in Third World Countries. He's done wonders in the area of Peace, no reason to doubt he couldn't have done the same to end poverty, especially in South America. Hint, wait till you see what he does in Gaza?

You wanna stop illegal aliens surging across our southern borders - help their country of origin achieve economic prosperity. If anybody knows something about achieving economic prosperity it's Donald Trump.

Sad, instead this Pope has chosen the path of socialism/communism. A system that has failed miserably in South America. Hint - the Cubans are starving (literally) and the Venezuelans are struggling to gain entry into the United States.

Domine Deus Veritatis, aperi oculos caecorum. Amen.

Hes basically telling us to forget prayer, follow the whims of men who dont give one frick about the creator of said planet. Only man can save us

Pope doesn't like people to ridicule those who speak of global warming. Isn't it better to show these people the evidence rather than just ridiculing?

You can't teach a wrong headed person by ridiculing them. It's better to show them the way in a more brotherly and neighborly fashion.

Are you arguing that you think Ridicule is a better way to guide someone than using the methods that I suggest? You prefer Ridicule to Education?

Does your particular congregation also practice Shunning?

What a weird question. I didn't say anything about ridicule being better or worse than any other form of argumentation because the Pope wasn't speaking to that from the quote, that I could tell. All I said was that the Pope isn't just condemning actions (as you implied), but words.

His words also go against those who ridicule the idea of climate change and global warming, not just ridicule of people.

Sometimes mockery is appropriate. Jesus mocked the Pharisees. Paul mocked false teachers. Elijah mocked the prophets of Baal and other idols. God even laughs and the wicked and holds them in derision.

Obviously it's better to try to convince someone of the truth with education, however some people do not want to be educated. But that's not the point of my statement. I was just pointing out that you like to give the Pope the benefit of the doubt even when his words leave no room for that.

It ok to be an Orthodox papal infallibility believing Catholic and still acknowledge that the papacy has been, is now and will be periodically occupied by wolves in sheep’s clothing. Jesus told us this would happen.
Just don’t make the mistake of being someone who defends the wolf.
Defend the papacy but not the wolf occupying the seat.
Defend the teaching of the church but not the teachers if they are obviously endorsing evil.

Poor foo is incapable of recognizing this distinction.
Christ attacked the teachers of the law without ever attacking the law itself.

God will ask us if we have cultivated and cared for the world that he created for the benefit of all and for future generations

There’s not supposed to be future generations. We’re supposed to be in the last days, and Jesus is supposed to come during the generation of his disciples to come destroy the corrupted world 1970-ish years ago and rebuild a new more perfect earth.

It’s just really funny to me that a Christian, if they know their scriptures, would actually care about the environment for future generations. Heck, Paul even told his followers there was no use getting married or having kids, because the end was upon them.

I’m actually thankful though that most Christians actually reject that theology within the Bible and mostly do care about our environment. I want my kids and grandkids to be able to breathe clean air and drink clean water too.

The climate has always changed. The effects are usually exaggerated in an effort to to tax the "evil" western citizens.

As a Catholic I don't care what any pope says on these matters.

FFS - the pope doesn't speak for God.

That said Leo should stfu about climate change and focus on things that should actually matter - abortion, for example.

I understand the distinction just fine. I subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith which says that the Pope (the office) is the antichrist, rather than any one Pope.

I believe the office of the Pope is unbiblical and ahistorical, and developed over centuries as power was consolidated into a primacy of the bishopric (which itself was an evolution of presbyters), and then finally in the primacy of the bishop of Rome.
