“Task & Purpose” couldn’t be categorized as “antiwar” as the term is popularly used.

If anything it is indeed “pro-military.”

The “Task & Purpose” article is almost 5 years old so the death toll of the GWOT certainly has grown higher since it was first published.

The source that “Task & Purpose” references placed the death estimate at 800,000 which I clearly stated above was on the lower end of the estimates.

Yet even here, “Task & Purpose” notes that “indirect deaths” would place the total death as high as 4 million.

I purposely included the “Task & Purpose” link to show that news platforms from across the political spectrum are reporting on the enormous death toll resulting from the GWOT:

The number of U.S. service members killed in the conflict (7,014) makes up less than .811 percent of the total, while the number of workers hired by U.S. contractors (7,950) makes up .99 percent.

The report does not attempt to calculate the total number of wounded civilians and combatants. However, the 2018 paper notes that over 21 million people across the Middle East have become refugees or internally displaced as a result of GWOT.
