I don’t care how good Trump public speaks. I care how clearly he articulates in private to Putin and Xi how it’s going to go, and the respect they have to listen.

Trump is unprepared for any interview and can't handle followups and drilling down

I’m not saying the man is an objective moron. He is not. But his intellect is very average. I would be surprised if he lies outside the first standard deviation above the mean.
By contrast, Shapiro is objectively genius-level. In any sort of intellectual context, Shapiro would eat Trump for lunch … perhaps even while taking a nap.
in short, Trump bellows talking points and childish insults. Shapiro understands the issues. Result? Embarrassing interview for Trump, so he avoids it.
