Yes, it's difficult when you have to ride the fence between donor wants and base votes.

I have to believe that someone as smart as Desantis would understand that debate prep is vital when dropping your application for the most powerful position in the world, and that he prepped to the best of his ability.

Perhaps the blame should be shared by the staff that "prepped" him. Or, maybe he just isn't skilled or natural in debate. He definitely got punched in the mouth last night from the clips I've seen this morning, so the others on stage clearly planned to go after him with the Mike Tyson strategy, and it threw him off his game.

Here's a question for you. Let's say the left finally "Gets" trump on any of these ridiculous charges that eventually prevents Trump's name from being on the ticket. What's the backup? It ain't DeSantis, because you've all said he's a GOPe/RINO/Globalist stooge. So are you backing that assclown, Vivek?

Pragmatically thinking, what are you gonna do if that happens? Now that's not to say, that is why you put your support behind any 1 canidate. I believe policy and actions should be the #1 qualifier, but you guys have already disqualified DeSantis from running from any office again, per your own words. So what's next? Are you just going to say "we were only saying that to destroy DeSantis because we love Trump. We really didn't mean it?" Because that is the only truthful answer, but you expose yourselves as complete hacks (which most of you have already done).

So what is it? Trump's 2 biggest negatives are

1) Social media
2) His sycophantic supporters

Intelligently (key word) explain what you mean by this, with examples.

Why is he a bad candidate? Which policies make him a bad candidate?

His shouting and canned one-liners just didn't land. He came off as awkward and rehearsed. He needs to calm down and just be more natural. Even you Ronbots have to take the blinders off and see this. One of Trump's greatest campaign tools is his natural demeanor and how he is able to relate to everyday people despite his vast wealth and upbringing.

Absolutely.

I said last night he acted like a guy whose consultants had told him for 2 weeks if you want to be president then you have to nail this thing so he over-prepared and choked.

He’s lucky he didn’t have an embarrassing Rubio type moment (the half smile is nothing IMO) but was still very disappointing.

I don’t think he’s going to be able to recover from this this cycle.

He didn’t eliminate himself from the future like Rubio but was just a rand Paul type thing.

On to 28 at this point. Ron had to thread an extremely tight window as it was and that window needed a perfect debate. Kemp, Youngkin are the favorites but I’d like to see rand try his hand again in 28 and see if he can gain some more traction

I don't know if he hurt his ratings last night but he sure as hell did not gain any ground that is for sure. He looks very awkward and canned.

Well I actually watched the whole debate, and this is not the impression I got at all. Ron did fine. You think Trumpers here are going to see past their bias and give him the benefit of the doubt? Hell no.

Yeah, that's depressing. Too much of the voting populace is politically disengaged, and that's bad enough, but a political forum should attract people focused on policy, not personalities.

Under this hypothetical and current conditions I vote for Ron then begrudgingly Tim Scott.

I think I just answered your question.

There is a difference between personal choices and political landscape observations.

I warned 9 months ago regretting where we are now. I said at the time this is going to get ugly and here we are in the middle of the 1st quarter and it's ugly.

I've express on this board many times why I like Trump form a policy perspective and he has a track record to back that up. Not a perfect track record but a track record nonetheless. I can repeat them again if you want me to.

So you are not genuinely asking me to answer your questions? You already have them answered with the answers you want?

All subjective. You obviously do not like his social media posts and his supporters. There is nothing I personally can do to change these issue to your liking. I wish I had that kind of power but I don't.

he flopped far worse then trump did in his first debate, but unlike trump, ron is a seasoned politician doing this for years so his failure at the debate is far far worse than trumps mistakes since trump was never involved in a debate and wasnt prepared.

at least now, fun bunch has to shut up about trumps first debate wasnt great

but his transformation into being a democrat is almost complete so he might just keep on lying, after all, what else does he have.

I dont think hes going to have to worry about it much
quote:

Ron DeSantis left the debate untouched — because no one bothered to attack him

The Florida governor wasn’t the target many expected he would be, reflecting shifting dynamics in the race against former President Donald Trump.

quote:

That’s mainly because his rivals barely swiped at him — a somewhat surprising development that observers were quick to cite as evidence of his diminished standing in the race.

“It speaks volumes that just months after being the co-front-runner of this race, Ron DeSantis has fallen so far that none of his seven opponents onstage felt the need to attack him but instead went after a first-time upstart,” said GOP strategist Matt Mowers, who attended the debate. He was often on the sidelines of the conversation.

quote:

* “’Cause they read all your ‘DeSantis falling’ stories and everyone’s internal polling shows Vivek rising,” a DeSantis ally said.

* “Because he’s not a viable threat,” a GOP strategist supporting another candidate suggested.

* “Big winner Trump. And Glenn Youngkin,” a longtime DeSantis bundler said. “Seemed angry and robotic.” “He didn’t do enough to open up huge wallets,” the person added. “Vivek won on the stage. Trump and Youngkin off.”

* Dennis Lennox, a GOP consultant closely following the race, said DeSantis "he didn’t have a standout moment. The question now is whether DeSantis can keep Youngkin or [Georgia Gov. Brian] Kemp out of the race. That’s yet to be answered".
