He most likely lives in a gated area in Brentwood with their own private security. No crime there. This was domestic. Not criminal violence.

Rob Reiner, whose father was an absolute comedy legend, was a tremendous director and very highly thought of by people in his industry. He directed films I will watch again and again. Do not underestimate his talent. I disagreed with his politics. There is a lot more to us as humans than our politics and I really hope his story didn’t end this way. I do remember a recent thread that send he had entered himself into a mental hospital or something. I hope this isn’t true.

Was one or the other terminally ill or suffering from dementia? Considering the age, then I would guess a murder/suicide.
And isn’t Reiner an atheist? Declining physical and mental health is difficult for any family but I assume it may be particularly difficult for those with an atheistic mindset.
