Lost my pop earlier this month after a long, valiant battle against cancer. He was a proud Navy vet who deeply loved his country and a staunch conservative. He came from nothing and through hard work and persistent determination made a good life for himself and his family.
He never had an opportunity to visit this board but would get a great chuckle from some of the comments I would read and pass on to him. He would’ve loved and fit right in here with most of you baws.
He was a Huskers fan but prior to his moving to Nebraska years ago and getting caught up in Big Red fever, my earliest memories of football growing up in TX was him always talking about the LSU score. In his earlier years he had adopted the Tigers because a good Navy buddy he loved was an LSU grad and also my dad loved Billy Cannon.
None of you know him (or myself) from Adam obviously but I felt compelled to pay tribute to the greatest man I will ever know and a man that many of you would have liked alot had you known him personally.
Love you dad and Rest In Peace.
(Thanks to those of you who read and indulged me this one time personal reflection).

RIP to your father.
Hopefully, we can have more like him and less like ikeandtina.

It’s nice that you had a great dad. So many people don’t have that kind of relationship with their dad. Mine is 84 and still kicking. Thankful for my dad too.

Very sorry to read that. Mine died almost 20 years ago, and I'd love to tell you I've stopped thinking about it, but that's not true. There is still a hole there that never really gets replaced. What does happen is pain lessens and you're left with mostly the good memories and all those fantastic things he taught you, that you may or may not have absorbed when you were younger.
My advice is always the same...you keep those people alive in your life by talking about them as often as you can. Hopefully his memory lives with you forever.

My sincere condolences, fairwinds and following seas to your Papa.

Hopefully one day from heaven he gets to see a rebirth of Nebraska football.

The remembering is the best.
I lost my older brother a couple weeks ago and I’ve tried to compile as many memories of him as I could so I won’t lose them.
It’s a sober reminder as well of what is important. He didn’t conquer the world. But he was a great husband, father, co-worker and brother.
Keep your dad’s memory alive.

Nice post. I lost my mom Nov 23 and my dad went down with Covid hard right after. Luckily he is pulling through but I can’t imagine when he goes. I don’t think I will ever be ready.
