Those old white Chevys? We were still driving them in the late 90’s. Too bad the College of Ag is a shell of itself now.

I find it fascinating that so many people had the same reaction that I had in listening to him. This board is heavily southeastern but his listeners were everywhere. Our upbringings and experiences vary greatly and we all seem to have the same takes on El Rushbo. That’s a unique gift that he had.

Rush had Great sense of humor. Those parody songs were hilarious. Remember the song, to the tune of the Wanderer(Dion DeMucci), called "The Philanderer" about Ted Kennedy?

There was another one about Hillary "The little old megalomaniac from Pasadena" to the tune of "Little old lady from Pasadena"(Jan & Dean). There were a bunch of those parody songs, too funny

Came across this voice who was saying things that I had fervently believed in forever.

This is the part The Left never could, and still can't really, wrap their minds around. Rush may have changed a few minds, but his real talent was expressing thoughts and feelings Americans had but were not hearing on Radio or TV. Suddenly they had a voice who was echoing things they were saying to each other.

I think he is without a doubt 100% the reason for the existence of Fox News. He showed that The Right was being unserved by Legacy Media and not only was there an audience for it, but likely a larger one worth cultivate.

And yeah, the various replacements aren't even close. Clay and Buck are fine, but Clay was campaigning for Al Gore when rush was calling him Algore. I'd bet dollars to donuts Clay HATED Rush at that point, so it feels wrong to have him on his show. Bongino is ok, but he's really more like a replacement to G. Gordon Liddy, whose show I really liked back in the day, than a Rush replacement.

There's really been a void since he's been gone. I think the closest we have at this point is Tucker and it's why he's as popular as he is.

This is one of the top reasons for his success.

This is also the reason no leftist radio voice ever took hold. You can only listen to someone agree with you for so long if they are a dullard.

The first time I heard Rush was on 1150 WJBO in 1988. I was a student worker at the LSU Ag department and I was driving alone in an LSU pickup truck to pull some samples of a genetically engineered soybean plant from an experimental plot for the professor I was working for. I was stuck in traffic on Highland near the South Gates and I turned on the radio. All they had in this truck was AM radio. Rush was on, I listened and the rest is history.

The first time I heard Rush I was channel hopping in the car and heard this voice say: 'After this break we'll have a Homeless update.'
I switched to another channel immediately thinking: 'Wow, another moron who doesn't realize Mitch Snyder is a lying bastard.'
There were no good songs on and I went back to Rush's channel as he was saying:
'And everything Mitch Snyder is saying is a lie!'

I was amazed that someone else besides me knew it. 100% of media hailed Snyder. There was no Fox news. National Review wasn't touching it. I knew it from counter researching in the library. I was hooked on Rush from that point on.

I started listening to Rush in the mid-90s and was hooked from then until his last show. I will never forget the show he revealed he had 4th stage lung cancer. It was like hearing the same diagnosis about a family member.

The way Trump has changed this board, Rush, had her lived, would now be considered part of the establishment.

Anytime a big event occurs like the Ukraine war and all this now "woke" shite and the chemical bomb on Palestine and always wonder what Rush would say.

I was lucky enough to win one of his Betsy Ross T- shirts in a radio contest. And I received later by mail a box of his assorted t shirts with a signed portrait of him which I treasure.

There is still an empty hole in my day from 11:am to 2 pm.

Clay and Buck just don't do it for me. Sorry.

Mainly about himself. He could laugh at himself, which is what made him so lovable. It was his talent on loan from God.
