Rich Men North Of Richmond by Oliver Anthony on YouTube

Sort of a bluegrass version of "Am I The Only One".

He hits the nails on the heads!

I wish politicians would look out for minors and not just minors on an island somewhere.

Lord it's a damned shame.

aka the "Southside" of Richmond.

This song is called "Rich Men North of Richmond." It has been viewed MILLIONS of times.

The artist's name is Oliver Anthony. I just got off the phone with him.

With his permission, I'd like to share the story he told me that moved the deepest parts of my soul...
quote:

In the past, Oliver was struggling with mental health & coping with alcohol. In depths of despair, just about a month ago, Oliver got to his knees & broke down in tears.

Though he's wasn't a religious man, that night he promised God to get sober if he helped him follow his dream
quote:

Oliver was about 30 days sober when someone reached out & asked him to come record a song for his YouTube channel.

That song was "Rich Men North of Richmond."

Within days, the song was going VIRAL on social media.
quote:

As Oliver told me this story, the hair on the back of my neck stood up. Goosebumps covered my body.

Here is a man who broke down & surrendered everything to God & within 30 days, he became an overnight sensation with an offer from @johnrich to produce his record.
quote:

When I offered to cover the cost for Oliver to produce a record, I had NO idea what would transpire, nor did I know just how powerful his story was or the situation that God was inserting me into.

I just wanted to help. This is how we're going to change culture. And the coutnry.
quote:

He's a songwriter, a father, and a genuinely good human being. I'm blessed to know him.

I literally came here to see if anyone had posted about it.

One of the most conservative, heartfelt songs ive heard.

Solid. Nobody writes lyrics that mean shite anymore. Just engineered noise. Glad to hear somebody pour themselves into a song.

Wouldn't it be great if real music returned? What a song. Nashville is like Washington DC. Real music, like real people, survives and thrives despite the rich and powerful instead of with their help.

There is real country music out there, but you have to seek it out. I'll gladly support this young man, at least until he flakes like several others have, Tyler Childers most recently.

It's actually miners, as in coal miners. Dude straight hits folks in the mouth with this song. He's an ol Appalachian boy who grew up around coal mining.

Bad news about Tyler Childers

quote:

LGBTQ+ advocates and musicians have hailed the new video for Tyler Childers' song "In Your Love" as a much-needed portrait of inclusivity. The song is the first from Childers' upcoming album "Rustin' in the Rain" (out Sept. 8) and chronicles devotion to a loved one. The twist the video delivers is that the love story is between two men who fall in love in 1950s rural Appalachia, face attacks from co-workers at a coal mine, then move together to tend a farm.
