Maybe they should make some better fricking life choices. Instead living in the moment, why don’t they plan a little ahead, show value in education instead and some personal responsibility.

Why should I be responsible for my actions and now responsible for their as well?

Worth a repeat.

Imagine thinking that a lib is talking about inequity and passing legislation and thinking anything OTHER than "from each according to his means" is what's on the table.

I don't have enought savings to retire. That's why I'm still working.

It takes a lot more money to retire at 50 than it does 70. Most American's don't have enough money to retire on.

I do feel that there are certain things that our government does not encourage that it could.

Why didn' the government encourage people to exercise, take vitamins and supplements, and go outside during the pandemic? They tried to control everything else about our lives during that time.

Why doesn't the government encourage young adults to get job skills - provide career paths in electronics, computers, plumbing, HVAC, etc in our high schools?

Why don't they encourage and educate people to save for retirement?

I'm not asking the government to take control of our lives. I want the government to do a better job of helping us to better control the parts of our lives that the government already controls.

I watched the ad. Looked like eye rolling pandering but also an investment corp trying to tap into an untapped group.

If they can get a group who per that ad doesn’t invest and save for retirement to start doing so with their company then the ad did its job no?

I didn’t hear anything about taking earnings from white peoples accounts and putting it in black peoples accounts

Dims raiding 401k s is like the old quote about why do you rob banks? It’s where the money is.

I have a brother I love that hasn’t made good life work choices. If we were in the story ‘Three little pigs”,he is definitely straw. I’m wood desperately working OT to buy bricks. (Uncle Sam smiles when you get an 80 hour check)

I’ve worried about having to help him. Now they want me to carry others.

Making progress on student loans is allowing them to move to solving more life choice problems. No one needs personal responsibility as long as we can take other people’s money.

Thats a great idea until it's all tied up in digital currency.

They are coming for it eventually. I'd say plan for double your retirement because somebody is getting half of it in the next 15-20 years.

seems like a useless platitude. given that they haven’t taken money from white investors to give to their black investors I don’t think they plan to lobby for legislation to take from white peoples 401ks but am willing to see a link where TIAA has discussed otherwise

ETA I’m guessing their idea of legislation involves taking money from social security and privatizing it to invest at TIAA

Anybody with any sort of assets should spend a little bit of money and meet with a lawyer who specializes in estate planning. We just did it with my parents and the tools that the super-rich use are available, you just have to take advantage of them.

ETA: You didn't answer my question. You said what you think it's not; what do you think it is?

You're the only one talking about white and black. What they've wanted to do since at least the early 90s is tax your 401s and redistribute them to the poor, black and white alike.

I don't think they randomly included the word legislation in the commercial, and legislation means using government power for coercion. If you think the left isn't willing to use it in the name of "equity" then I'll not waste any more time.
