She thinks it’s a win for the left.

But when you have zero shame that’s what happens.

Will be interesting to see how churches react to this nonsense. Marriage is between a man and a woman and gay unions should never be sanctified by any church. You want to have a union under the law fine but not under God.

I'd imagine that the overwhelming majority, in excess of 99.99%, will do absolutely nothing different than they are right now.

No church is forced to marry same sex couples.

So what exactly are the gays gonna get to do that they weren’t already able to do with this grandstanding horseshite
Do you recall the Right laughing as SCOTUS rejected Roe in Dobbs, indicating that the Left should have codified the "right" rather than just relying upon a court ruling?

The Left took the advice.

No. I am just not looking at the issue from the perspective of a religious text.

I am looking at it from a more rational, pragmatic perspective, which is how a government overseeing people of a multitude of beliefs should probably view things.

Ultimately, homosexual adults are (and have been proving themselves to be) just as capable of maintaining a committed relationship and raising future productive citizens as their heterosexual counterparts.

The bar isn’t set very high.

As is very frequently pointed out here, homosexuals cannot even reproduce with each other and pass on their genetic material.

This “cultural decay” is happening within a population almost entirely created by heterosexuals.

cool. so since one state has to recognize another state's marriage license, when do we make it where one state has to recognize another states's concealed carry license.
When you have the votes.

Calling that the “Respect For Marriage Act” just tells you ... weak arse republicans and how they don’t represent their voters.
55% of Republicans support same sex marriage

Pretty sure that is a majority.

The definition of marriage by the Church is a universal and eternal definition.
For the members of that faith, maybe so.

50% of churches in America likely do not hold to a traditional view of marriage.

This is important because when the push to disenfranchise orthodox Christian churches/orgs begins in earnest, that large swath of "churches" will be used as ammo against the holdouts.

It wasn’t linked to the government prior to that.

I've been with my partner for 27 years. Neither of us believe in Marriage because in our opinion it's slapping GOD in the face. Now we may get a civil union at the courthouse but that would be for legal purposes.

You think God cares about semantics?

If you feel that getting formally married is an afront to God, then you already believe that your lifestyle is an afront to God, no? Or does God only care if it is called a marriage?

Would you like to try to give us a definition of marriage?
Black's Law Dictionary, (9th ed. 2009).
quote:

The legal union of a couple as spouses. The essential elements of a valid marriage are:
(1) parties legally capable of contracting to marry,
(2) mutual consent or agreement, and
(3) an actual contracting in the form prescribed by law.
