Impeach and remove Trump. You'll have the votes.

Find something he did improperly in regards to the Iran war or just use it in general since he was the main driver behind it. He is an idiot, so I'm sure there is something.

This gives the GOP a buffer from Trump for 2028, improves the GOP's optics on the corruption piece that was very important in exit polls, and then gives JD a 2 year audition to see if he can create chicken salad from chicken shite with a heavy Dem congress.

Blow it up. It would be better than sitting on your hands and likely losing 2028.

I just said something similar in another thread and am getting downvoted. Expect the same.

But you’re right. Everyone (including many of his most adamant supporters on this board) are going to spend the next 6-12mo coming to this realization.

He’s only going to drag Rs down further and further the longer he’s around.

I'm sure there are things they could find on almost any topic they want to choose, but the Iran war is wildly unpopular and this would also give the GOP distance from it.

The democrats are on a glide path to total control in 2028. Why in the world would they impeach and convict in the senate an extremely unpopular Trump?

Getting Vance in office would be their worst possible scenario.

I’m not sure anyone high up in this administration has much of a chance… correction, I’m not sure anyone on the Right has much of a chance in ‘28 right now. The Dems will have to screw up enormously to make the Right palatable.

Outside of Trump, the biggest loser last night was Vance.

I don't think it is. The largest exit poll driver for voters was affordability. Dems never do anything about that or healthcare. They won't have any accomplishments to run off in 2028.

Their best shot is probably Ossof who said he won't run, but even if he does the diversity olympics in their party have a chance to eat him alive.

I hope he gets impeached and Vance gets a chance to show what he can do Trump is over. He needs to go retire somewhere and shut up.

They would LOVE being able to milk that the GOP supported a guy in 3 different elections that they ended up removing from office. They would do it in a heartbeat. They are already talking about having congressional hearings for the whole admin.

And Rubio.

The Republican winner was Desantis.

He wasn't on the ballot, and his state mostly stood up against the wave.

If it weren't for his terrible decision to run the first time he would be perfectly positioned.

But no one can deny whether by luck or design he finds himself in the pole position.

Like Trump, Rubio hitched his wagon to Iran. Idiotic.

Vance may not run at all. His time may come down the line.

He ran the first time because GOP leadership knew Trump was an idiot and would kill them. MAGA was still so popular that you had to try to bring them into your tent, but the smart people in the room knew what was happening and the leeches just saw an opportunity to gain wealth or notoriety and rode the Trump train for as long as they could.

Hell, they knew that before 2016.

Had a former head of the entire GOP in Florida tell me exactly that back then. Said he would be the death of the party.

I agree Desantis benefits by having distance between himself and Trump. But Florida went +20 for Desantis 4 years ago and +13 for Trump in 2024.

GOP only won the senate race by 3% and the governor race by 1.3%. Those races were way closer than anyone would have expected a few months ago.

Honestly the best thing that republicans can do at this point is get ahead of the democrats and start the impeachment proceedings themselves.

what's your solution, then? Just let a guy who is clearly a poison pill do even more damage? And have the GOP be forced to at least somewhat defend him?

I'm not going to tell you my proposal is a great solution, but I will tell you its the best option we have.
