Will need to be a mix of radical change, and getting back to the basics that voters identify with. Something like:

1) Donald Trump was never a Republican

2)Join Dems in the impeachment process. Throw him out of office.

3) Take the position that Trump didn't destroy the Republican party. He destroyed the MAGA movement. Which to be fair was his to destroy.

4) Bury the ashes of MAGA and Trump together

5) start talking about free trade, cutting spending, and fighting the influence of China. Reduce energy prices and mortgage rates. Focus on affordability.

6) Break up the multiple billion dollar plus deals Trump set up for his kids and SIL. Stop the insider trading in Congress. Talk about term limits. Be the anti corruption party.

Run on what they promised in 2024 and watch the democrats self destruct. Rise up and fail, and rise up again. Rinse repeat

Some of you really do not understand how colossally bad last night was. There is no strategy for moving forward. Rs can't win the Senate in 2028, and you're fooling yourself if you think voters are going to vote for an R president in 2028 either. Hang it up. It's over.

Not disagreeing that this is likely the only available, winning approach.

But it doesn't really answer the question of "to what end"

Commie like the actual card carrying member of the Communist party that Trump sent his son in law to do a diesel fuel deal with?

True free trade is what Trump has been working toward. It can't be achieved by simply opening up our borders for other country to trade is as they please while allowing them to tariff our products into obsolescence in their own countries.

Also, pretending "free trade" would be disruptive to "China's influence" is laughable.

This won’t work like you would like

If Trump is anything he’s a survivor and still has a loyalists

The play is to hopefully steer him into some better policy

The Dems are going to obstruct and make life hell.

The key is to somehow get out of the Iran quagmire as smoothly as possible and look good somehow doing it. (Need to do it before this session ends) get out of Ukraine as well.

If prices go back down to normal and things improve and the Dems are going crazy people will bounce back.

It will be either Rubio or Vance to run.

I mean, I don't think we need semantic maneuvering here. Trump was not in anyway about "true free trade". He was about sensible economic protectionism on paper that in reality faced impossible headwinds, insurmountable demographic realities, etc.

This. In the eyes of voters, Trump and his kids have turned the Rs into the party of corruption and back room deals and favors.

Right, but the end goal was "you drop your tariffs, we'll drop ours." He was leveling the playing field.

Unfortunately, we live in a country of simps and morons who don't understand that we're going to have to actually do something for things to get better.
