3) true conservatives.
In your estimation, was Pence an establishment type or a “true” conservative?
You know Pence is an establishment guy. He does support a lot of fiscal conservative and social conservative views.
What do you think the chances are that a true conservative can win?

The term “conservative” has been so debased, I don’t even know what it means anymore. That is why I usually ask when participating in discussions such as this.
Now, if you are asking me what the chances are that a candidate who supports limited government can be elected in the current UniParty® political system? I’d say slim and none.
The UniParty® exists to perpetuate the Deep State. And the Deep State exists to perpetuate our nation’s print-on-demand monetary system.

I'm going to do my best to burn the Republican party to the ground until it fractures mostly by trying to expose and primary incumbents while supporting challengers who believe in American exceptionalism and resist globalist agendas.
I like the way you think. The best we can hope for in this wholly corrupted political environment is to throw a spanner in the works! If you changed “exceptionalism” to “individualism” I’d really be stoked.

Exactly. So, as you and I have discussed before ... and I was wrong once ... the GOP will have to look to someone who can win a General election, and focus on making change at the Congress level. Alabama now has three Reps that are about as close as you can get to being a Conservative (Palmer, Brooks, and Moore). So, winning at a state level is very possible.

The Republican Party has the opportunity to become the party of the middle class and working people, that’s a large part of the Trump coalition. You can move forward and understand those voters or you can keep poking them in the eye
This is the truest thing I’ve read in this thread.
Full disclosure: I’m a centrist. I’m not a fan of Trump. I think he’s a narcissist and a poor leader. I’m ready for the presidency to be boring again. I am not the target audience of this thread.
All of that being said, I believe that Trump has shown the Republican Party that there is a path to political dominance, should they choose to embrace it. The key is in his rust belt performance in 2016.
The vast majority of the country live somewhere in the middle of the political spectrum. They may not admit it, but it’s true. If nothing else, political ideals are simply too complicated for one party/candidate to accurately represent the values of 50+% of Americans.
People think of political parties in terms of big/small government, liberal/conservative social policies, and total budget deficits. That’s a sham. Start asking people how they feel about the Patriot Act, military spending, healthcare, stimulus bills, immigration, manufacturing, etc. - you would be surprised at the answers you get out of people who claim to be Democrats or Republicans. The political spectrum isn’t a line, it’s more like a 3D scatter plot. And it’s a jumbled mess.
Which brings me to my point about the rust belt. When you get down to brass tacks, most people care about their livelihoods above all else. Now, you can’t appeal to every voter’s livelihood because people have conflicting interests. What’s best for the poor is not always what’s best for the rich, and vice versa. But Trump found a bloc of voters in the rust belt who had been abandoned by the Democratic Party and had not been truly represented by the Republican Party.
There were a TON of middle class voters out there in 2016 who felt like the Democrats were letting the socialists drive their agenda, and who felt (pre-Trump) like the Republicans had sold out to the 1%. Political candidates have always been a choice if the lesser of two evils for these voters. Trump won them over by promising to bring back manufacturing. He won them over by promising to get the lobbyists back in check.
The Dems saw the power in this message, which is why they tried to muzzle the far left wing of the party in 2018 and focused their message on the economy. It worked to a large extent. But Trump’s divisiveness allowed them to abandon that message in 2020 and just make the election about him.
I feel like the Republican Party can retake those votes, and then some, if they can build on the parts of Trump’s message that resonate with the middle class, while minimizing the parts of his message that divide the country. Stop the wars. Put a check on the MIC. Get rid of the lobbyists. Reduce government waste. But do it responsibly. Find a candidate with an even keel, actual policy knowledge, leadership skills, and a willingness to be pragmatic.

Not ONE single MAGA person that I know IRL have wavered. In fact, they are galvanized. Unlike Dems who pull straight ticket... I have voted R my whole life as another did. If I don't find the right candidate I will be sitting it out. Sooner or later people are going to get tired of being butt fricked by communist over reach and a real candidate will emerge.

With all the mail-in ballots in shite holes like south Dekalb County and Clayton County and just about everywhere in Atlanta that were fraudulent going to Biden and the dems, and all the ballots put through the Dominian voting machines multiple times, it is no wonder Trump "lost." Btw, how many illegal mexicans have you got throwing up shoddily built houses in Gwinett County?
Yet you brag about how many votes Trump got?

Trump managed to frick up this party so much. Takes a real special dip shite to do that.
Trump brought to the Republican Party minorities, Christians, Gays, Atheists, Libertarians, Independents, blue collar rust belt Democrats and blew the opposition out of the water in 2016 and 2020. He created a party that said no to RINO elites who settled for and participated in a Democrat orchestrated American twilight in hopes they could "manage" the decline. All the while paying back their corporate donors with bailouts using our tax dollars and cheap labor by doing nothing about illegal immigration. Most said and did nothing about the existential threats posed by China fighting a mercantilist war against us and preparing for a military conflict with us.
These are the RINOS Trump's Nationalist Populists Republicans threatened. They conspired with the far left to ensure his landslide 2020 win was stolen and Nationalist Populist Republicans are marginalized and demoralized so the elites of the far left and elite establishment Republicans can go back to business as usual.
The Republican elites you support and with whom you identify are in every way as destructive of America as Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Schumer and their street thugs Antifa and BLM.
You have met the enemy; he looks back at you in the mirror every day.
