Does anyone think that the Taliban leadership wouldn't wisely assume and expect decisive military actions by the United States if any American citizens are harmed or certainly killed by way of official Taliban acts?
It's beyond reasonable for them to expect that, and it's beyond reasonable for us to expect that. But are there expectations otherwise amongst us?

The answer is very easy. They have 10 days to allow all American and pseudo Americans to leave the country via the airport. Each time we become aware of any incident we will do a bombing run on a strategic target (power, water, the palace, communications, etc.)
If they are fully cooperative but we are not able to get everybody out that we want to get out, the time can be extended with the same rules in place.
frick up more than three times, we come in hot with bombing runs, troops, etc. and take control of any areas we need to meet our objective of getting out of there. However, on our way out we will take out all critical infrastructure.
Let us leave with our people and whomever else we want and you can have your hellhole back. If not, we will take our people back by force and leave your hellhole worse than it is currently.

What if the American troops try to collect Americans and are slaughtered like goats in the alleyway? The Taliban and ISIS members are as strong or stronger than American troops in person to person combat.
Would you rather have American citizens die or American military personnel? Poor Joe just doesn't have many options. You can't just indiscriminately drop bombs on the millions, apparently, of American citizens.

Really? The Taliban and ISIS are just pushovers, like little kids with BB guns I suppose. Why haven't we just eliminated them already? Why haven't the American troops just walked through the city calmly loading up the American citizens if there is no danger?

Alright then, that's good to know. How many American men and women have lost body parts and their lives, severely disabled for the rest of their lives, etc...

I have a question and I’m sure it is going to get downvotes but I truly do not know the answer. Who are these American passport holders who have not evacuated? Are they missionaries? Why did they wait so long to decide to leave. One would think that if you were not embassy staff or military you would have had plans to leave as soon as the US troop withdrawal was announced.

You're absolutely, 100% correct. Surely everyone's noticed a couple things by now: (1) The Taliban are plenty capable in making strategically sound moves and from a leadership perspective they are "mature" and very thoughtful in their upcoming strategic actions; and (2) These people, most certainly the upper leadership, clearly seek longterm control and rule of Afghanistan. In other words, this is not a suicide mission for them wherein death of Americans is a goal. They're no doubt optimistic about a very lengthy tenure in full control of that country.
Having considered the above two overarching factors, it is plain and clear that they are aware and wisely acknowledge that any official acts by the Taliban that results in extreme harm or certainly death of American citizens would without a hint of doubt result in the summary termination of their longterm goals and aspirations.
They're plenty wise enough at this point to understand the most significant and realistic threats to those longterm goals and plans, and forcing the U.S. hand in severe military retaliation is blatantly counterintuitive to the aforementioned goals.
