So they were going to cut defense spending?

What about USAID?

Full disclosure, I've paid little attention to the man. No opinion on him. But only a goddamn child uses the expression "bootlicker".

Exactly. Refusing $10b for a border wall that would save us $100b annually was a great fiscal decision. I'm glad we have such principled conservatives on our side.

Some of you people really have no clue that secondary effects exist.

You certainly don't have a problem reading someone else's GD mind apparently.

Well .... Let's take a look, Bunk.

Paul Ryan was the SOTH, was he not?
So as a "guy laser focused on debt and deficits," did Ryan not control what was or was not in his House spending bills? Because the last time I checked, that's sort of what a SOTH does. Did Ryan not also actively support the Trump Tax cuts? IIRC, he did.

What Michael Tracey (a "journalist", Democrat activist and Bernie Sanders acolyte btw) seems to forget is how terribly offended Puritan Paul was at DJT's mean tweets and the Billy Bush Tape. Ryan was a consistent exercise in politesse when addressing Democrats or John McCain's treachery. But Trump was shown no such courtesy.

Tracey also "accidentally" overlooks Ryan's vacuuous leadership as SOTH which, along with his consistent undercutting of Trump, led to a gargantuan GOP mid-term House defeat in 2019. It is interesting, though, to see a radical leftist so enamoured with Ryan. Almost as interesting as it is the OP quoting such a fool as if he's a credible source.

I’m of the opinion that he is nothing more than controlled opposition. He had a chance to affect change, instead he torpedoed it.

Never forget, the “young guns” wouldn’t spend 5 billion on our southern border. You know the end result.

To hell with the “young guns.”

As for Paul Ryan…
