The MSM used the story to mercilessly pound Palin into the ground at a time when she had energized the McCain candidacy.

Now however, notice how little coverage there is after Amy Klobuchar couldn't name the president of Mexico.

And the differences between the two stories are important. Palin was a candidate for VP; Klobuchar for POTUS. Not reading a newspaper doesn't prove anything other than good taste since almost all newspapers are liberal rags. Not knowing the name of the president of our nearest neighbor to the South, one of our most important trade partners, and our allies (ideally) in the war against the Mexican drug cartels, proves a shocking ignorance of global politics.

quote:

Democratic 2020 candidate Amy Klobuchar, in a Telemundo interview Thursday night, was unable to recall the name of Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador when asked.

The candidate, along with 2020 rivals Tom Steyer and Pete Buttigieg, sat down with Telemundo following a League of United Latin American Citizens forum at which the candidates were speaking.

The candidates were asked to name Mexico’s president. Klobuchar did not remember.

“Can you tell me his name?” Telemundo’s host asked Klobuchar. She responded, “No.”

Actually Dan Quayle had been handed a card that had the spelling as "potatoe". That story was basically fake news.

It's the middle of February early in a Dem primary race vs in the heat of a presidential election.

But with Palin the question was a logical follow up after Palin said she reads a lot of newspapers. Neither Amy or Sarah's questions were "gotcha" questions. They were both dumb as hell for not being able to answer.

Don't go on Telemundo without brushing up on Hispanic leaders, and don't claim you read a bunch of newspapers if you can't name a single one.

If Klobacher were a Republican, there would be nightly news stories about her treatment of staff with interviews of offended former staff underlings and “witnesses” to examples of the abusive behavior.

It was a gotcha question.

Video

they wanted Palin painted as a ditz that didn't know foreign policy like McCain.

the headlines from this worked. they also painted a tax attorney as a ditz and a liar and she ended up being correct on MB in our govt.

it was before Trump when she couldn't say it's fake news so I take it with a grain of salt. or the American people are tired of the canned foreign policy and speeches.

this was all a political mortal sin to say and McCain would have dumped her.
