Remember Gibson's Bakery, the bakery Oberlin College said was racist?

I’m sure that the bakery can spend some of that money to poke the shite out of the school over this.

Yeah, that was so unjust. It feels good to see them get raked over the coals.
For those who don't remember, this started when some black Oberlin "students" shoplifted at the bakery. The son of the owners chased them across the street and confronted them. They beat the shite out of him, but the police intervened. The thieves admitted they stole the merchandise, so that was not in doubt. The college cancelled all business with the bakery and many of its faculty and executives publicly slandered the bakers as racists for not letting the thieves steal their stuff.

One of the administrators leading the charge left the college for a promotion at another college. If I was her current employer, I’d fire her on the spot

irrc the original guy died a bit back, and the original woman who kicked this off has left the school. Sux she won't be penalize for it in some way.
So always wondered about large payouts like this...do they just have the $36mil transferred into their regular bank acct or what? until they can figure out how to invest it so its more secure. Just wondering since the FDIC only secure $250k in an acct, so thinking they aren't splitting it up into 140-150 accts to spread it out around into insured accts.

They had to place a surety bond in order to appeal the decision, which means they should be able to release a large chunk of the judgment to the bakery soon.

Funny how this was a national story when CNN, ABC, NBC, and CBS were reporting how racist the Bakery is. You would think that a College paying $36M for smearing the little guy working class family would dominate the news channels, but we all know that that's (D)ifferent.
